| HERE'S A LULLABY TO CLOSE TO YOUR EYES Your tears mean nothing to me Slowly, the group was returning to normal. Sort of. Some students had become much more reclusive, opting to hide in their rooms to cry in private. Others cried publicly, and some just seemed unfazed by the recent turn of events. Three lives had been extinguished in the few weeks they'd lived in Monoworld. Shiro barely got a chance to live...and that had been snatched from him once more. They lost Tamashi, who would've made the trial much easier...and then Daisuke was gone, so horrifically. The boy who refused to reveal his reasons in the end. He...must've had them, most of the students assumed. He was just some shy, sweet kid.
“Attention, students! Hi, ho, hum, hehehe~! Please report to the Center of the Park, where you met for your first trial not so long ago. I have a gift for you all!”
In each area, the TVs had flickered to life, broadcast the bear's announcement as he drank from some Monoworld-branded cup, and then shut off. With reluctant gazes and joyless walks, the mass of students huddled into the Park's center, averting their eyes from the Fountain which held the fiery carousel.
The bear awaited them in a mermaid tail and a seashell bra, with a long, light blonde wig.
“Hello kids! I hope you enjoy my, er, copyright-evading outfit for this special occasion. Now, o' Great 'Kuma, what lies in wait for us? … … ...Well, be patient, okay?! ...EAST GATE, ALAKAZAM!” And with a clap of his hands, an awful metal sound shot through the air, as well as a massive gust of wind. But as the students looked again...one of the Gates had been opened. And...the Magic Castle was surrounded by a huge iron cage?
“Oh, right! I should explain a bit. This is the East Gate, a Water Park for your wildest, wettest dreams! Upupu! But don't be skeeved if water isn't your thing, this isn't a communist society! The East Gate is chock full of areas for all your entertainment demands! I wouldn't want to deprive you of fun...” Monokuma's lilting voice suddenly became serious, as his eye began flashing wildly, like a police siren.
“The only thing I'll be depriving you of is sleep. So in a sense, I guess your wild, wet dreams will have to wait! As you see, I've locked the Magic Castle like in Sleeping Beauty, and that can only mean one thing...Motive #2! Did you guess right?! Sleeping is still only permitted in your dorms...which are currently inaccessible. Therefore, sleep of any sort will be met with death. If you want your beauty sleep, you better kill someone before you even think of saying 'Mirror, Mirror, on the wall'!”

Taro, unlike most of the other participants for this horrid game, slept soundly after the trial. This wasn't because Taro was a heartless monster. In a way, it was worse. Taro was used to death being all around him. Hell, three bodies was the lowest count he had in a while. He was rather happy for that reason alone. Between less bodies and more bodies, he lucked out with the former. Still, roughly eighteen percent of them has perished with one of them being significantly worse than the other two.
He waltzed door to door with no real plan of where he was going, but always met with eyes of hatred and disgust tinged with utter confusion, particularly from Willow. This wasn't strange to him however. In fact, it was planned.
Monodouche rang up the school and informed all remnants of the original class to head towards the fountain. He gave his little narcissistic-riddled speech while he dressed as the fish-face bastard he was. The motive this round was very simple. Stay awake or view the reaper's scythe. This wasn't really a problem for Taro. After disasters, it wasn't uncommon to have to stay up for days, even weeks, before he could even have a chance to rest. And even then, Taro didn't take it unless it was in a hospital. But the thought occurred to him very quickly. A thought that, even though they all individually distrusts his judgement to varying degrees, must be expressed.
"I know what someone is thinking. I have no clue to whom this person may be, but I have to say something very important to them."
He turned around and faced the classmates, some with pure annoyance at his blabbering. Taro didn't care. This had to be said.
"Someone here is thinking that the life of twelve outweighs the life of two. If you are considering murdering someone for the sake of sacrificing yourself and another party to the protection of the other twelve, that is incorrect thinking. You see..." Taro removed his hat and held it with both hands behind his back, trying to sound professional as possible, "even if, let's say Mariko, being the arguable lowest chance to commit murder amongst the other thirteen of us, kills me in order to save the others from a fate of resting to resting in peace, this will not help anyone. Monokuma will simple provide another motive to us and the game will continue. The best course of action is staying awake until Monokuma realizes that the game will be over if we all die and promptly either say we can sleep anywhere or removing the lock on the dorms so we can all get some rest. Please keep that in mind. We all want to get out of this alive. It's best if we do so as a group of fourteen. Unless, of course, you are curious to see what your execution will be. Bisection looks......painful,for lack of a better word."
Taro sat down at the fountain's edge and looked into it's reflection, waiting for the inevitable retort of the fellow compatriots. That was inevitable. Everything is inevitable, even death.

Ignia played with her lighter as Monokuma presented the second motive.
"No sleep, eh? That may potentially be a problem for me... Guess I shouldn't make a campfire, then." She was casual about her situation. Then she turned to Taro.
"I guess ya kinda have a point, but...", she sighed. "Like last time, there's no guarantee, ya get me? One of us will definitely snap an' murder someone else. Gettin' outta here as a group of fourteen is utopian thinkin'. Not that there's anythin' wrong with that."
"All I know is that the bear doesn't care if we die of sleep deprivation or not.", she thought.
Ignia then looked around. "So the East Gate's open, eh? A water park? No points if ya guess who ya won't find there at all.", she joked.

Willow had slept deeply the night before. Something he hadn't been expecting. Then again it was probably utter exhaustion from the emotions and adrenaline that he used up during the investigation and trial. He was glad for it, as he was now faced with the terrifying proposition of staying awake for at the very least, days.
Because this was a situation of utter survival, he had to keep his eyes on those he cared about. Namely Adrianna, Alexia and Saiorse. He couldn't have any of them collapsing to sleep, getting killed, or killing before this ended. After that, useful people like Root should also be watched over. He didn't want a brain drain on his hands. Tamashi being dead was already a problem. Intelligent people or people who had useful skills were needed for trials and escape. Iocus and Taro were probably the most expendable.
Someone was bound to kill of course. it was only a matter of time before sleep deprivation or a desire to save the others got to them. Willow was glad that at least in a situation like this, Taro was the most likely suspect and victim. He would either kill for survival or would be killed because he was so utterly unlikeable.
For Willow's part, he had to weigh his options carefully. Sure he didn't want anyone to die, and he wasn't going to kill anyone himself....however getting someone to kill another...that was a possible option. However something like that would be an act of desperation. A last resort. Giving someone a push would mean that he could possibly control victim and culprit without putting himself on trial.
It would also mean a guilty conscience. And he wasn't willing to do anything like that yet. Couple days with no sleep...he would see then.
"Everyone, Taro does indeed have something of a point. Perhaps Monokuma will not, in the end, be willing to risk his game over us all being unwilling to kill or being to weak to kill due to sleep exhaustion. However the point of a killing game is also useless if nobody actually kills. Whoever is watching this through these cameras, they are all utter sadists who get off on this kind of thing. Monokuma probably is streaming this to some dark corner of the web. People who would probably be satisfied if we all drop dead of sleep deprivation. And finding people who can be forced to kill each other for an audience's gratification are a dime a dozen even if they aren't." Willow began.
"My point being our plan should not be to simply sit on our hands. We have to be active here. Figure out a way to escape this place or try to find out who could be behind this. Besides I am sure watching us fight and struggle for escape shall be more entertaining to our audience, right Monokuma? The viewers at home wouldn't like watching us give up without a fight. " Willow finished. His goal here was trying to both inspire the group and potentially trick Monokuma into giving something up. As it was the clues to who could be behind this were painfully minimal. Someone with power of course. Probably a group or organization. And they were likely somewhere with an incompetent and or corrupt police force judging by the lack of rescue after weeks of captivity.
If they could find out who did it...maybe they could get inside their heads. Maybe they could finally come up with a way to get out of this nightmare. The other revelation about a water park was interesting. Who could maintain a water park? Was this place captured recently? Was it built for them?
"A water park huh? I am guessing swimsuits are provided?" Willow asked. He wasn't thinking of utilizing the swimming facilities, during a situation in which sleep deprivation was a risk and the motive, using up his energy on physical activity wasn't smart. However if someone did kill and they had to remain for longer, which was a good possibility, then swimming was open as an option. And swimming was just about the only physical activity other than walking the trickster liked. Well that and sex, but sadly that didn't look like an option anytime soon.

Alexia, dazed and confused, quitley entered the middle of the park. Still shaken up about the past events. Sure, she had seen people die before... But, Alexia was so skilled at her police work that she, herself, had never had to kill anyone before. And this incedent, she was blaming on herself. She was the one who voted for Daisuke, She was the one who put him on to of that ramp... She was the one who made him die. This feeling Alexia had felt, this... Despair, was a feeling that Alexia couldn't handle... She knew this feeling too well and this incedent reminded her of something she had done long ago...
"Huh?" Alexia broke from her train of thought, briefly hearing the bear shout the motive with a booming voice, "No sleep, eh?" Alexia burst out with laughter, almost forgetting what she was thinking about moments ago. "Anyone can survive without sleep! Hell, we can even adapt and evolve into it! Right guys?" She looked around hoping for some nodding heads. "Besides, we have a whole water park to ourselves! If we feel like we are about to doze off, we can just splash our faces with water! O-Or go for a swim." Alexia chuckled at, what she thought was her sound logic. She also wanted to reveal that she was trained for such a feat, but that would be giving too much away.
"Willow, I highly agree with you." She pointed at him. "We shall not give in to provide entertainment to those watching!" She turned her head, facing Ignia. "Ms. Brand, no matter how difficult trying to sleep may be, just try your best not to think about it, alright?" She smiled "I can count on you, in fact, I can count on all of you to not give in!" Alexia was beaming at this point. "And Taro...?" She smirked. "For once, you may actually be right."
Behind her confident voice, however, she knew she was trying to make a desperate attempt to save everyone. To lift their spirits. But, sadly, Alexia knew that sleep was human nature... Most people here may not be able to handle the pressure and decide to kill. But Alexia was trying everything in her power to protect everyone from another killing. This was the last time anyone has to die in the hands of... Well... Injustice.

If the polarization of the black hole was such that – no. That wouldn't work. Root tore his page down from his wall and tore it apart in frustration running a hand through his head. He closed his eyes for a moment and thought to himself he should probably get some sleep. It was getting late, he was sure. No, no, he needn't to figure this out. He'd been working on it since morning, and he had to figure it out or he might as well go insane. Of course, lack of sleep would cause one to make mistakes, and he should just sleep now and see if he could figure it out after a bit of sleep. Fine. Fine. He'd sleep. He slumped onto the floor and closed his eyes for one moment.
The days after the skater's death were filled with him closing himself into his room, and working on his equations, sometimes coming out to find notebooks and writing utensils, occasionally food, which he brought back with him when he felt his stomach grumbling, and his mind was still whizzing around with new ideas. He'd slept in this morning, and he was making it up by solving this one problem before going to sleep, but the answer was escaping him, as if he had it, seen the solution before, but just couldn't remember it, couldn't place his finger on it and it was frustrating.
“Attention, students! Hi, ho, hum, hehehe~! Please report to the Center of the Park, where you met for your first trial not so long ago. I have a gift for you all!”
Fuck. He had barely closed his eyes when the announcement came over the television. He'd worked through the night and of course, Monokuma chose this day to announce just now while he was just about to screw up whatever semblance of a sleep schedule he had and probably end up becoming a night person and sleeping during the day. Just his luck.
Cursing as he dragged himself up from his floor, he slowly made his way out of his room, probably looking like a wreck, even forgetting his usual journal he always took around with him, and slowly made his way towards the fountain. He rubbed his eyes as he approached the fountain, seeing the bear in a ridiculous mermaid outfit, before his eyes landed on the others who had arrived. His focus shifted to some spot in front of him, though everything else went fuzzy, as he zoned out, lost in his thoughts. Words around him, he picked up, but otherwise, he was completely disconnected from everything else.
Water park?
Root's focus attempted to shift to the bear, but his head didn't respond and he was stuck in his position. He wanted to groan, make some stupid Little Mermaid reference, but his mouth didn't respond, and he was trapped in his own head for a few moments. He just wanted this to end and for him to just go back to his room and work on… what was he working on? It'd be in his journal he was sure, wait, he forgot his journal in his room. Damn it.
“The only thing I'll be depriving you of is sleep. ”
That snapped Root out of his head and he looked up at the bear, almost feeling more awake now that his heart was starting to pump faster because of the fact they weren't able to sleep or they would die. And worst of all, he hadn't access to his room. He didn't know what he was working on, what he already solved, all of his equations, everything, it was all out of his reach. No, no, no all that progress. And to top it off, a water park. Hopefully no one would try to make him go there. No, no, he'd rather not.
"Oh yes, because you told me, I'm not going to do anything," Root said shaking his head and crossing his arms. "While you preach, I'm going to explore these new areas, find a way to stay awake, stay alive. Do some experiments." He wouldn't be much use telling people not to kill because of this new 'motive'. He'd probably just make them want to kill him and he'd rather not die. Nor did he really want to sit around and lecture these fools. Root started walking towards the now open gate, with the plan of making a cool exit only to sneak back and grab a journal as soon as he could without anyone seeing. "Y'know, Taro," Root said, stopping next to Taro, "Maybe you should get some shut eye, see if you really are the ultimate Survivor." Root through his head back as he walked and laughed loudly, as he walked towards the newly open gate.

Prior to her meeting up with the others, she giggled during Monokuma's initial announcement. He sounded so joyous during that "Hi, ho, hum, hehehe~!" that she couldn't help but smile.
Adrianna now stood with her arms crossed, the gears in her mind spinning in response to Monokuma's latest display. A lack of sleep was a problem for everyone, but some will prove more sturdy than others in the end. The problem therein was that she was unsure of her own resiliency. It was a troubling seed of doubt that begun to waver her soul, and she countered this chugging train of thought with a reassurance that others were weaker.
If need be, she could fuel herself with the desire of bearing witness to more beautiful corpses. How would the next one be found, she begun to wonder. Would colors of fear be sprayed over the victim's face, or shall their expression be one of a softly painted slumber?
She posed a silent question to the deities above.
'How many more bodies shall decorate this land?'
Would their blood bleed a pool and their bodies litter the ground, covering and tainting all like ash from a spent volcano? Much like an actual volcanic winter, it would be a beautiful sight, wouldn't it?
In response to Root's jab at Taro, Adrianna let out a chuckle. "That's not a bad suggestion at all," she said, eyes closed to accommodate her playful smile. "It's been such a long time since I've dressed myself in a bikini, I'm not sure if I'll be able to work up the confidence to put one on again." With a bashful look, she hugged her arms around herself, turning to shy away from the gazes of others. "It'll be horribly embarrassing," she muttered out softly, her voice taking on the tone of an embarrassed highschool girl confessing her love. Pulling out her hand fan, she hid her face behind it. A small giggle escaped out of her. She closed her eyes in delight, happy to ride this joyous wave for as long as it lasts.

[/font] Despite herself, Mariko couldn't help but get a little excited at the premise. It was stupid, she knew this. There was no way there wasn't a catch to this, especially since this bear's whole game was to get them to kill each other, as demonstrated with Daisuke and Shiro and Tamashi, but she had to admit that Mariko loved a water park. Brushing her long green hair out of her eyes as the talk turned to swimsuits, eyes flicking between those who she considered friends, Adrianna to Iocus to Root and then quickly to anyone besides Root. God, she hadn't worn a swimsuit in so long, especially around other people. Part of her really hoped that there wasn-- "If you want your beauty sleep, you better kill someone before you even think of saying 'Mirror, Mirror, on the wall'!”Aaaaaand there it was. Any thoughts of water parks, and swimsuits and fun quickly evaporated and was replaced with an all too familiar feeling of dread, a feeling that she was starting to feel would be all too common very soon. Pulling her purple hood back up onto her head, Mariko bit a knuckle to keep her emotions under control "You mean we have to keep doing this? Why."She didn't really expect an answer to her question, to be honest she wasn't even talking to Monokuma. Trying not to cry at the fact that at least one of them were probably going to die again, having no fantasies that nobody would kill, not anymore, not after the three of them who were now dead and gone, Mariko stuffed her hands into the pockets of her sweatshirt and gazed down at the ground, sadly. "I can't take much more of this..."[/ul]

It was pretty funny actually. The past few days I was thinking this was some sort of reality game show. I was not aware that we were in a real killing game. It was pretty funny when you thought about it for a bit. Three people died and I was trying to win a show. As far as the first motive that was given to us though. Our family. It was hard to believe but I guess it could have been possible.
A few days have passed since the passing of our friends (Hehe). Some of the other guys seemed indifferent towards the turn of events. Others, however, seemed like it affected them more. Even Taro in a diaper did not help them much. Either way, it seemed like everybody had some time to mourn. You could start to see the mood lightening up a bit. Some people even got a "ha" out of some of my jokes.
“Attention, students! Hi, ho, hum, hehehe~! Please report to the Center of the Park, where you met for your first trial not so long ago. I have a gift for you all!”
It was the sound of despair. The penguin colored bear wanted our attention and that is what he got. After a boring explanation of what was going on, a loud noise could be heard. A water park would be available to us. Seriously though, could the bear actually try to be funny? Maybe he will be nicer towards us if I helped him be funny. I should give that a shot but "Oh boy" will I have to work hard to make him funny.
My train of thoughts were interrupted by something the bear added...
“The only thing I'll be depriving you of is sleep."
He finished talking after a few seconds. Again, not a single funny thing was said. Either way, it seemed we would not be able to sleep. I don't even know how it happened but a giant cage surrounded the castle. We were not allowed to go in without dying first. I didn't care too much about the sleep to be honest. However, I had left a sandwich on my desk that was only 2 bites eaten. A perfectly good sandwich was going to go to waste...

| HERE'S A LULLABY TO CLOSE TO YOUR EYES Your tears mean nothing to me Monokuma giggled, clapping his paws together delightedly.
“Oh, look at you! The heroes of hope, trying to save the day. Well, perhaps you aren't all as hope-oriented as you believe. I will say with glee that one of you bastards was planning a murder last night! And they did a beeeeeeeeeary bad thing, deserving of some...capital punishment.”
At these words, one student in the crowd grew pallid and clammy to the touch. Their life force pounded in their temples and all they could think was to live.
“Isn't that right, Joaquin Johnson?!” And as the SHSL Lawyer began to sprint away in terror, the bear let out a room-chilling cackle of murderous glee. “Ohhhhh no, you broke the rules! No loopholes here, so I'm gonna throw the book at you!” In a few seconds, he shoved his hand into his tail and pulled out...a large dusty book, with “American Law” written across it in goldleaf. With a flick of the wrist, the tome sailed through the air, passing over the heads of thirteen students as it opened. The inside was hollow, with a multitude of needles glued to the bare inside. Each one was filled with the same clear liquid, and just as the boy tried to squeeze through the bars of the Castle...it clamped firmly around his head, prompting a short scream. Silence followed this, and a body tumbled limply to the ground.
Joaquin Johnson was dead.
“Sigh. He evaded me last night, running into his room after he managed to break all the hallway cameras. You can thank him for the motive idea! And, ah, perhaps this'll make up for us cutting into Judge Judy's airtime? Upupu, Willow Fey was somewhat correct! This isn't some dirty webcam show, you perverts. You're on CNN! NBC! ABC Family, Logo, FX, Channel 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...every single network on the planet! You're a part of the social experiment...”
“...Leeeeeeading me to Motive #2. Every social experiment needs a control, right? And of course, some outliers are also fun. So I will tell you now...one of you is the Mastermind behind this whole operation. I'm just the magician's assistant! Don't look behind the curtain, 'kay? And the outliers...well, two of you know more than you're letting on. 'But O' handsome Siren Monokuma, what if I reveal my treacherous double life as a dirty Traitor?!' Well...to quote Ms. Brand, no points if you guess! I'll tear you, cut you, kill you and anyone you've told...For the sake of fairness, of course.”
“I can't interfere with a social experiment, so don't expect your teamwork to save you. One way or another, someone is probably going to die. Or am I planting ideas in your heads? Puhu, I'll leave before I say any more!”
And with that, the bear vanished in a puff of smoke.
Joaquin's body still laid against the metal frame encasing the Castle, lethal injections seeping into his now still heart. |

Root was just about to walk over to explore this new 'water park', and had reached the gate when the bear started talking again. Root stopped in his tracks and turned towards the bear, the news startling him. Someone was already trying to kill? Without even this stupid motive? And it was their fault he was separated from his notes and projects? Root narrowed his eyes as Joaquin was killed before their eyes. The fact that boy was willing to kill one of them, possibly even him after what happened to Daisuke? Root's eyes were cold and he turned back towards the water park. The idiot deserved it.
Root closed his eyes when the words from the bear got to him. The second motive. There were two people here who he couldn't trust. Ha. It wasn't like there was anyone he could trust here anyways before… well except for one person, but he knew, he knew she couldn't do anything like… set up this whole game. But whoever it was, whoever set up this game, whoever was making them do this, they were putting him in danger, they were putting Mariko in danger, they were putting everyone in danger. He didn't particularly like anyone else, but it was just an added bonus to why he should hate those two people. They were the ones at fault for the nightmares of his family being killed before him, or the recurring dream where he woke up to a dead Mariko in his room, blood everywhere. The fact they couldn't sleep was almost a blessing, giving him an excuse to not sleep, to not have those nightmares that plagued his mind. But eventually the exhaustion would become too much and either someone would kill or they would die from sleep deprivation… it was a blessing and a curse. It was yet another thing that put them in danger.
Root had something to say on that, talking quickly, as he turned back towards the found, before the others could speak. "Oh don't tell me, Taro, Willow, Alexia. You're all going to say," Root changed his voice to a slightly higher pitch, in obvious mocking, "Don't worry, there are more of us then them. Let's win this with teamwork! Yay!" Root smiled and shook his head. "They've tricked us, they're our friends now. You can't trust anyone around you. That person standing next to you could end up killing you. They could be the one who is trying to get you to kill. The only way to survive is to trust yourself. Don't trust anyone, but yourself." You're such a hypocrite, seeing as you trust Mariko. Root scoffed and shook his head at the thought. It's not that I trust her, it's that I don't care if it is her. If she is behind all of this, then she's safe. But really, did he truly believe that it was alright for her to make him feel all this stress? To constantly be worried about her getting killed, or about others dying and for her to have to go through that whole situation? For her to pull him away from the world where his family lived (well, hopefully they were still alive)… no, no, it was stupid to think these things, Mariko could never do them. She cared for people, something he had a hard time doing. She was innocent, she was kind. At first she had reminded him of that girl from his past, but she was different in many respects, and he… liked those differences.
Root's eyes had trailed over to Mariko without realizing after he had said that last statement, a soft look passing over his face, as if portraying these inner thoughts to anyone who would understand the look. He shook his head like a dog just getting out of a bath and scanned the crowd of fellow students. "But don't kill anyone either, because that'd just be playing right into their hand, you'll let those who betrayed you win. You don't want that, do you? Or maybe you don't care that your friend is putting everyone you care about in danger. Maybe you don't care about the friends you've made here, the bonds you've formed with those around you. Maybe sleep means more to you than the life of another. If that's the case, there's no words that can stop you and you'll just end up like Joaquin."
And with that, Root turned away, walking into the new section of the park, his arms crossed with a scowl on his face. Maybe, if someone ended up trying to kill someone, they'd target him. At least then it wouldn't be anyone else who died, especially not Mariko.

Taro silently sat while a mastermind was revealed to be amongst them. He didn't have time to care about Joaquinn, despite the fact that he was a potential killer. Who was the mastermind? And who was the traitor in their midst?
Ignia Brand had the criminal intent to pull this off, but yet seems to be too apathetic about her surroundings to care enough about the game.
Koji Enomoto has experience in the killing and the reason why his gun was brought along with him, but that doesn't explain his overall rashness. He's too headstrong to construct something that requires a lot of patience. Otherwise, Monokuma would have done something like have us kill in 24 hours or someone we cherish dies. Instead, we have a couple of days before someone decides to kill.
Willow Fey is a trickster and certainly has the expertise to design the game and would explain the red-herring last trial, but that doesn't explain his apparent eagerness to solve said trial.
Iocus Hilares certainly has the element of being the least suspicious out of all of us to be the mastermind and certainly enjoying himself, but their is something weird about the previous days before he "realized" it was all real. The real mastermind would probably want to blend in and being in complete denial about the games even existing is too much of a stretch.
Adrianna Kravenski's personality always bothered Taro. But I doubt she has the means to construct an entire amusement park. Plus, according to Root, her video message was flowers. Flowers are too out there to be the main motive. She's too likely to be the mastermind, which would go against what being the mastermind was. Then again, Monokuma revealing this fact might make the most likely suspect disregarded for being a red herring of sorts.
Saoirse Moran is an annoying fuck with all her daredevilness attitude. A daredevil would easily seek the thrill to become a part of this game, but Taro believes she is too stupid to pull this together.
Mugen is an actual Mononoke. Unless forest spirits desire to test humanity, there is a very low probability of Mugen being the mastermind.
Mariko Nakazawa, if the mastermind, is doing her job perfectly. She has at least three people wrapped around her finger, especially Root. Nobody wants her to be said mastermind, which makes others throw her out of their minds. Then again, she was petrified during the trial. Either she is an incredible actor, or that was true fear. With that much fear, Mariko wouldn't dream of putting herself in the game.
Nana Okabe does have the vocal skill to portray Monokuma in whatever voice given to her, but, like with Koji, she seems too impatient and generally honest about herself to be the mastermind.
Alexander Root does have the scientific expertise to be a mastermind. This could all be an experiment to determine human resilience. The only problem is that Mariko is amongst them. Why would Root put Mariko inside the game? He could have added himself in to protect her, but I feel like he's not doing enough of that to be the reason.
Mamuro Shabots isn't the mastermind. Boxer took too many blows to think up this mess.
Alexia Takana does have the ability to get the others to trust her more do to her cop outfit, but Alexia seems rather unpleased with the murders. Taro thinks it might be genuine, but who knows at this point.
Taro sat in silence slowly mulling over the possibilities one by one over and over again. After a little thought, Taro had his number one suspect. But who knows if he's right. He'll have to gather more information. Then he heard Root speak.
"If that high-pitched girlish squeal is supposed to be three separate people, then I suggest that you leave the voice acting to Mrs. Okabe."
Taro stood up and and removed his sunglasses to reveal both his eye, one perfect and the other has the others question how it was still functional.
"And I, for one, am not stupid enough to believe that this is a quirky family friendly sitcom with the whole trial a very special episode to teach us a lesson about community's resolve to band together after a disaster."
He walked over the the fallen lawyer and bent down to get a better look.
"Joaquinn tried to kill someone. That much is true. There is a one in thirteen chance that it was me who was his target. And that's assuming he wasn't trying to pull a skater trick and pop two or more of us."
He stopped crouching and turned around to look at the others who had their eyes fixed on him while he was talking.
"One of you is a mastermind. Two of you are traitors, whatever the fuck that means. But that still leaves ten people to keep tabs on the other nine. If we are all gonna survive this, we are gonna to have to non-lethally take out anyone who can't get that through their reckless thick skulls with their reckless murderous actions."
He glanced at Saorise to make sure she was listening before returning to the center of the crowd.
"Root is right. We are not a team. We are individual countries who have peace treaties between ourselves to prevent nuclear winter wiping out all life. So, unless you want to take a nap of the dirt variety, I suggest we "enjoy" the water park long enough to distract us from our tiredness."
As he said that, he turned around and left the fountain towards the gate. He realized as he was walking a devastating truth about the motive. The insomnia will cause some people to have a hard time functioning. If a murd-, When the murder occurs, we will be working at a very big disadvantage. The longer it takes for a body, the harder the trial would be. With that in mind, it might be best if the murder occurs first...
"But if you are horny for blood and Joaquinn isn't satisfying you," he yelled, not stopping, "I would prefer if you did so before you get too tired and get sloppy with your kill. Root would appreciate the challenge."

Ignia was legitimately surprised at the 'execution' of the SHSL Lawyer. She didn't expect someone who worked for the law to try and kill somebody else. Unfortunately he broke the rules and thusly had to face the consequences.
The news of a mastermind and traitors didn't particularly shock her, at least the part with the mastermind. The traitors did cause her to raise an eyebrow. The other news that everything was being broadcast didn't shatter her foundation, either.
"So, what we're doin' here is broadcasted all around the world? Why? Is this that 'Despair' BS again? Sure, there are prolly some sick minds watchin' us right now, but whatever..."
Ignia listened to what Taro had to say. After thinking about it, she wondered aloud.
"So, there's nothin' stoppin' us from offin' the mastermind or those traitors, is there? Like, can we leave if we kill the guy or gal responsible for this?"
She continued. "Except that we dunno who the mastermind actually is."
And even after all of that, the thirteen students still have to stay awake so they won't 'break the rules' and end up like the Lawyer dude.

Adrianna was happy about this. Unsurprising enough, another motive was another chance to see a dead body. It was clear now that she was in this more for just the excitement of the game. The young girl had devolped a fetish for corpses and a taste for blood.
Normally this would not have been any sort of concern for Willow. What got someone off was what got someone off. However they were in a killing game and he knew how quickly those who were considered different were isolated and made the enemy. Willow was sure Adrianna wouldn't actually kill in normal circumstances, well as sure as he could be, however in a sleep deprived state....well being tired and horny wasn't the best combination when it came to rational decision making. Especially when you also fear for your life and those of your friends. He would have to keep a close eye on her. He would protect her from anyone, even herself.
"My dear I am sure you would look positively lovely in a bikini. No need to worry about something like that. Best we concern ourselves with things not as certain. Our survival for one." Willow said, in a friendly and charming way. He found this mask was perfect for interacting with Adrianna, it was so similar to her own after all.
Shortly thereafter...the lawyer died. Another gruesome murder. Another thing to haunt his memories when he gets out of here. The lawyer could have been damn useful too...but if he went off the deep end so easily maybe not.
Then Monokuma revealed his next motive. Among them was a Mastermind and two traitors.
One Mastermind.
Two traitors.
Thirteen people left.
This was going to make things a lot more complicated. Honestly he didn't care if one of his friends was a traitor. People did stupid things for survival or a leg up or to help a loved one all the time. The idea of one of them being a mastermind didn't sit as well. It indicated a form of mental illness that was terrifying in it's scope.
"Two traitors and the mastermind among us? Certainly possible. It would be wise to keep that in mind going forward. However this is Monokuma we are talking about. What he says should be taken with at least a spoonful of salt. No reason to start a witch hunt without any proof." Leader-like voice of reason mask. Check. Jab at Taro. Check
" Still if anyone has any concerns about me being the mastermind or one of these traitors, feel free to come talk to me whenever you'd like. Such a stimulating conversation would do wonders to keep us both awake. However for the safety of both of us, I would recommend meeting in an open setting with witnesses. That way neither of us has to be worried about a murder or an accusation later on." Clever player of the game mask. Check.
"I believe our friend Root here doesn't understand or has forgotten that friendship is magic. Of course we can't trust one another. However the worst thing we can do is stop cooperating. More of us might soon be dead. That is a terrifying possibility. What's even worse is us sitting on our hands and doing nothing while we are picked off one by one." Blunt, vaguely snarky with an attempt at being inspiring mask. Check.
What Monokuma had said was concerning. Every network? That couldn't possibly be true, could it? What the hell was going on in the outside world? In his motive video he had seen buildings that had appeared to be destroyed. But that had to be a conscious effort to target those specific places right? Not something grander? That whole idea put him at unease. This was a group of talented, famous students from a famous school getting kidnapped and help had not arrived. Where the hell were they? What kind of organization could be responsible for this?
Ignia brought up a good point. The whole despair thing had been mentioned before. A group devoted to "despair" as some form of ideology was possible. Willow had seen a good amount of death cults and apocalypse groups on the web and this was a similar idea. Targeting Hope's Peak was a good method of spreading despair. Also it only made sense that "despair" and "Hope's Peak" would be natural enemies. And like all Cults and belief systems it could spread it's beliefs like a virus if it's message was appealing enough. But who would find despair an appealing message? The downtrodden, outcasts and hopeless were the most likely. Which didn't explain how powerful this group appeared to be. More evidence was needed before he could fully back the "despair" cult theory. If it was true, it was all thanks to Ignia that he had put two and two together. He would have to remember to thank her later.
All the trickster heard from Taro were words, words, words. Pointless without any meaning. Invalid coming from their source. Willow was pretty sure at this point Taro was actively trying to piss him off. Another pointless look towards Saoirse. What the hell was that supposed to mean? She hadn't murdered anyone. Taro was the type to point fingers at everyone else and fail to look inward. Self-righteous and dedicated to believing he was right no matter what, not even thinking about looking at anyone else's perspective. How they might feel. No compassion or empathy or desire to learn. It was all about Taro, Taro, Taro.
Taro was priming himself for a humbling. Or at least an angry rant or two.
Root could be irritating in his consistent cynicism and disinterest in most people. However Root did care deeply for Mariko. Anyone could see it. It reminded him of his relationship to Adrianna. What had started out as secret meetings had eventually spilled over into an open companionship. He had soft spots for Saoirse and Alexia as well sure but...Adrianna was the person he had spent the most time with. Root even defended him during the trial. Being another reasonable voice drowned out by the likes of Iocus and Taro, it was only natural the trickster felt a certain kinship to the scientist. Still Willow wasn't exactly sure what to make of him. What mask could he wear around him? What made Root tick?
Then their was Iocus...an idiot? Or perhaps more? Was their something the Comedian was hiding? Probably not but it would be useful to try and get to the bottom of it. At the very least spending time with him could be an amusing diversion. Talking to fools often was.
With that done, there was little use staying by the fountain. Willow turned and walked away to investigate, certain that others would soon follow. Depending on who decided to tail him, he would decide which mask to use. A personality wasn't just a static shape, it could be molded to fit a given situation. And Willow could mold his easier then most. Traits played up here and there, mimicry and adjusting to certain cultural lenses. As a trickster in a situation like this, that was one of the most important abilities he had.

"Oh my God...", Koji said.
The hunter said this in response to the amazing things that bear did... Exploding an entire gate with a snap of the paw, caging in the Castle... This bear was... something else entirely.
He wasn't fazed much by the no sleep motive. He'd stayed up for long periods of time, waiting for game to come by. Probably the longest he's ever stayed up was three or four days, waiting...
At least there was an abundance of food. He'd heard of stories of something similar to what's going on right now... Except, the people were trapped in towers filled with fruit, but all the fruit was inedible. There was even a hamster god who sacrificed himself, along with an android who cried soda, to save everyone.
Why couldn't the android just cry for everyone?
Did he ever have to sleep?
If he did sleep, did he dream of electric sheep?
Did he count the sheep in bin-
His thoughts were cut short as he noticed a book flying just above his head. He ducked just in time as it opened up and went towards the Lawyer...
thwack.
He looked back up... the book had attached itself firmly to the late Joaquin.
"Urgh..." He looked away, trying to hold back the taste of bile.
"Is he dead too...? Why is everyone dying here?"
He ran off quickly in the direction of the newly-opened gate, to get away from it all.
As he ran off, he dropped his ElectroID. On the screen was the profile of Joaquin, which seemed to have updated quickly, and had been what answered his question, and thrown him into despair.
