Despite being in the scientific field of psychology and cognition, Koneko herself wasn't too bright for a counselor. After a couple seconds of staring at her blankly, she facepalmed. The collision of her hand to the face caused a quiet echo in the hall.

 Ah yes, another brilliant failure on the part of our beloved Koneko Kikaimoto. She had been attempting to just lightly tease, hoping that she could restore some of the upbeat cheer to their conversation. However... It seemed now that her efforts, and any more she might attempt, would be completely in vain. Dammit. Koneko looked down, her face flushing with embarrassment at her own sheer awkwardness. She scraped the back of her mind looking for maybe some possible way she could salvage this conversation, but unfortunately, she could not. It seemed that if she added any more to the discussion, she'd only be digging her own grave. And thus... She decided to call it quits. It felt a bit hypocritical, especially considering the fact that she'd never advise any of her patients to give in to their anxiety so easily, but it seemed there wasn't much more she could do here. "Well... Um... I'd been meaning to check out the kitchens, actually. So, if you two will excuse me..." Mayumi seemed nice enough but seemed to be a bit... rough around the edges, to put it lightly. She sighed as Koneko awkwardly tried to walk off, and she jogged to the girl quickly, putting her hand on her shoulder.
"H-hey, don't feel bad, okay? I know small talk can be rough sometimes. Don't get so down, okay?" She said encouragingly, beaming at the girl with a reassuring grin. "To answer your question... I have someone back at home... I think? It's... super complicated. And uncool." She said softly, looking to almost lose herself in the memory of the person, before she shook her head and made herself focus. She knew she had to do something other than just randomly mumble, but she hoped that would be enough to reassure Koneko that it was okay, and she didn't have to run away. |

Koneko relaxed, and smiled softly back at Nox. " I understand, Miss Tenebris, that you're trying to make me feel better. Thank you, I'm glad I haven't begun to grate on your nerves too." Though, her smile soon fell, and she let out a bit of a sad sigh. "I think it would be better if I left for now, though. I don't like to make enemies, and I kind of feel like if I stay here too long... Well, Miss Otsuka seems to already dislike me, I'd rather not make things worse between us."
With that, she pulled Nox in for a light hug, before turning and departing downstairs. Surprisingly enough, it seems that she did intend on following through with her excuse for she turned in the direction of the kitchen. Poor Koneko, a sweet, yet so terribly awkward girl, it's almost like sometimes she's a robot or an alien, for she always has such a hard time fitting in with other people.
