Well, it seemed to be a pretty nice place, Nana had to admit. Mansions and manors weren't new to her or anything like that, being from Little Paris you see your fair share of wealthy citizens who like to live in fancy houses so it wasn't like she was completely starstruck, but still, it was nice. When the twenty competitors had finally all been announced the kids had seemingly all split up to explore their confines for the next foreseeable future. Well, most of them had anyway. Nana's exploring had consisted of finding a nice, open quiet area she could sit, relax and fiddle with her violin in.
People would see a lot of this for as long as she was here, by the way. Nana tried to be the nice, polite sort but she did have a tendency to keep to herself with only a violin for company. It wasn’t the best personal habit for a young lady entering the prime of her life could have and it was one of the reasons she had auditioned for the show in the first place. Meeting new people, making friends the whole nine yards for being a nice person.
“Just be yourself, be nice and smile. Make new friends.” Those were the last words that Kimie had said to her before Nana had left to go to the show’s location. In hindsight it would have been really awkward to have come home right after that was said, having not been cast. Either Kimie knew something she didn’t or someone upstairs liked her more than the other six people she had seen backstage who hadn’t had their names called. Either way, she was here now and that's all that really mattered in the end, no?
And yet here she still was, off by herself and fiddling with her musical instrument of choice. Alone. Again. Sheesh, some things never change.

► Yuichiro Yuuki 299 Like a fiddle | Music was a beautiful thing. You could convey almost anything with instruments and vocals, to put it simply. From the woeful cries of a heart broken by another, to the fast beats of an excitable idiot. Books, movies, video games, etc were all nice and all, but that couldn't incite the same feelings as music in him. Of course, he was entirely biased... That was why a certain sound caught his attention, though.
The manor was big. No, huge! Twenty people was pretty sparse in comparison, so even the largest rooms grew quiet at times. Yuichi had stepped out of his room, the tell tale sound of a violin caught his attention. That's right, he wasn't the only blonde, cute musician that got onto this show. Though they were on different points on the spectrum, birds of a feather flock together. Especially songbirds! Maybe.. She didn't seem super social, but that's where he came in.
Quietly stepping into the main area, he spotted her golden locks first. She sat, with her back turned to him and the string instrument perched on her shoulder, a calming melody playing on it. Yuichi smiled and waited for a break in her practice before speaking.
"Very pretty, if I may say so." Was he talking about her music or her appearance? The answer was obvious, of course. Both! Pocketing his hands, he stepped closer to her. "I've never sung with a violinist, though I suppose they aren't normally used for the genre's I often sing." Hmm, there's a thought. Yuichiro Yuuki, classical singer! "What're you doing, practicing all by yourself? I'm sure some people would love to listen in to an Ultimates rehearsal.. Or does that distract you?" Personally, he loved an audience, whether it be ten thousand strong, or just one person.

"Very pretty, if I may say so."
Had she been hoping someone would approach her if she sat here practicing her violin? If you wanted to know the truth than the answer was yes, she had. Nana was a lot of things but one of her faults was that she definitely preferred to be the approached rather than the approacher. And if anyone were to approach her and compliment her on the sound of her violin in a way it made sense that it would be Yuichi. Although their musical styles veered off into different paths at the end musicians of all genres take comfort in music. It was likely this was the same for anyone who would share a similar talent, it wouldn't be odd if the two novelists were off comparing notes or something in that case. Either way at the compliment Nana offers a small smile in return and pauses her playing although keeping her bow in position to resume at any moment. "You have a good ear, thank you Yuichiro."
Full first name yes, nice and polite just like she had been told. No need to stand out yet when they literally just got into the building. It would make sense that the singer wouldn’t have sung with many violinists in his shows. Simply two different worlds it would appear. Not all instruments required words to sing their songs for an audience. It took real talent to take someone and paint them a picture in their minds eye of a song’s story with not words but musical notes and passion. Nothing against the singers out there or anything, nobody take offense viewers at home.
"What're you doing, practicing all by yourself? I'm sure some people would love to listen in to an Ultimates rehearsal.. Or does that distract you?"
Shy. Yet another word that doesn't really define her. Nana would be the first to admit she loved playing in front of a crowd, why else would she have auditioned for the show? However in response to the singer she simply puts her violin bow down by her side and leans back in the chair she had been seated in, craning her neck skyward as if listening hard for the pounding of running feet on the floor above them while keeping her violin clutched tightly to her chest.
"It's been an exciting day. I assume the others would rather explore the house and come back to earth than listen to a stranger play the violin for them, wouldn't you say?"
Even if that stranger was on the show for being the best violin player. Not many had an ear for classical music, sadly.

► Yuichiro Yuuki 299 It's the exact same word count as my last post, wtf. | As she talked, Yuichi walked around her seat so he could look her in the eyes a bit easier. Nana really was a pretty girl; one of the prettiest between all twenty of them. Of course, things as arbitrary as looks probably didn't factor into getting onto this show much. It was just a little cherry on top of the mansion's sundae. Leaning against a wall, he looked from her kind eyes to that instrument. He probably couldn't tell a good violin from a cheap imitation but that thing looked expensive. Probably worth the price if someone like this girl picked it as her trusty fiddle.
"You're probably right." He responded to.. Well, nearly the first thing she's even said. She did have a point though; despite his opinion on the matter, most people had what they believed were better things to do than listen to the music of one blonde or another. "It's too bad. Maybe later... Though, if that's the case, why not just go to your room?" Did she hope to encounter someone here after all? Well, worry not! Yuichi has arrived!
...He chuckled, more to himself. It probably looked weird. "Well, regardless, I'm happy I caught you. Your music is... Well, I said pretty already, but I feel that doesn't quite cover it. I see why you got into this manor." A lot-- though not all of the music he sung to was pop, or some variation of it. That didn't mean he didn't love some classical. Oh trust him, he could do a classical song back to back with death metal, just watch him.
Sitting in an adjacent chair, he smiled softly and crossed his left leg over the right. "I could explore this manor anytime. If you wouldn't mind... May I listen in?"

"It's too bad. Maybe later... Though, if that's the case, why not just go to your room?"
This one was pretty sharp. He had a point one had to admit, and maybe it was clear to anyone who walked by that she had been hoping someone would approach her but when he asked the obvious question of why she was out here and not in her new room if she thought people didn’t want to hear her, it occurred to Nana that she didn’t actually have an answer for him. She seemed to consider her answer for a moment, twirling her bow absent-mindedly in one hand as she did so. “It’s rather quiet in there, I don’t like prolonged silence. It makes me uneasy.”
So instead she had simply set herself away from everyone else for the time being and playing her violin by herself, for nobody except maybe herself. Is that really a better use of time than just hanging out in her room?
"Well, regardless, I'm happy I caught you. Your music is... Well, I said pretty already, but I feel that doesn't quite cover it. I see why you got into this manor."
It was easy to see why our resident singer here had such a large fan following. You can say a lot of things about Yuichi here but he certainly knew how to sweettalk the ladies and in response to Yuichi, Nana offered a bright smile. You could almost see her chest swell with pride if you looked hard enough. "You flatter me, but I thank you for the kind words." It was rather nice to have someone else say what you yourself believe, you know? That may sound rather arrogant at first glance, but you could argue that every one of the twenty competitors here were a little bit arrogant. After all they were here willingly to compete on TV in a reality show
"I could explore this manor anytime. If you wouldn't mind... May I listen in?"
Well, who was she to turn down an audience? Show me a musician that doesn’t like performing in front of an audience than clearly, you’re looking at someone who was probably in the wrong art form. Fans and audiences are kind of a big deal of importance for people who want to perform in a public setting, no?
“I’d be honored.” Picking her violin back up to resume playing where she had left off, Nana pauses with her bow poised right above the strings of her instrument and she throws a look at the “Are you well versed in classical music? Have you heard the Gavotte from “Mignon”?

► Yuichiro Yuuki 299 Nana's so cute | This girl was as sweet as the pastries Yuichi's mouth was watering over not long ago. Was she Nero's daughter from the future, here to stop World War 3 or something? Really, it was a fortunate coincidence that two musicians could get along like this. The industry had it's fair sure of toxic people with fame in their heads, and douchebags who thought they were above everyone else. Okay, maybe some people would get that impression of yours truly if they saw some of his flashy intros, but he really wasn't like that. It was just nice that neither of them were stuck up.
Resting his arm over the chairs back, Yuichiro dug in his memory for the name Nana had mentioned. Gavotte... Mignon? As much as the singer would love to impress the violinist with his musical knowledge, he was very unfamiliar with whatever she just said. "I like classical music, but I don't listen to it much. Uh.." He looked up towards the ceiling for a moment before opening his mouth again. "I think Ryuu mentioned that at some point, but I've never heard of it beyond that."
He watched and listened intently. The way her left fingers flew across the end. The way the bow smoothly grinded against the strings, somehow creating a perfectly pitched beauty. Grind wasn't even an appropriate word; it was as elegant and elaborate as a well choreographed dance. It always amazed him how much skill went into instrumental music. What was really stunning though, was Nana. She must have made a deal with the devil for such beauty. Her smile could melt hearts.
With a warm smile, Yuichiro leaned forward after she paused again. "You definitely play like an Ultimate... Have you played for long? This seems like your second nature."

"I think Ryuu mentioned that at some point, but I've never heard of it beyond that." Ah, now that was the real shame. Fair, honestly but a shame. Not many people just casually listened to operas like they would other styles of music so maybe it should have been expected. In any case, Nana simply gave a small shrug at the confession that the singer wasn't familiar with what she had just brought up
“Well, I suppose operas aren’t for everyone.”
Indeed. In fact, they were for a relatively small amount of the populace. Operas were fairly big back home in Little Paris, but that may in fact just be because people there were old and rich. Hard to get the youngsters involved with the scene nowadays. Tapping her nails against the base of her violin, Nana sucked on the inside of her cheek thoughtfully as she tried to summarize it as quickly as she could in her own head before speaking. "Many many years ago, Mignon was an opera composed by Ambroise Thomas. Mignon is considered to be his greatest work."
Opera lessons, what fun! You could almost forget that these were teenagers and very few of them actually cared for music from the 1800s'. Either way, with that said she actually began to play and everything just felt right, you know? This wasn't a competition or a game show, she was simply practicing for another recital in front of a new crowd. No added pressure. The gavotte wasn't anything incredibly difficult or anything, but it was short and jaunty, a nice warm up piece to use. And Yuichi seemed to be rather into the performance as well and when she finally finished playing he leaned forward to compliment her and ask another question.
"You definitely play like an Ultimate... Have you played for long? This seems like your second nature."
Second nature, that was a good way of putting it. "Let's see. I've been playing for..." Nana trails off at the end there and she crosses her arms across her chest, head tilted skyward as she tried to recall just how long she had been playing this instrument for exactly. Let's see, she was seventeen now so it would have been... "...Fourteen years? Maybe fifteen? Somewhere in that range." Either way, it was a long time for sure, if you were to look around Nana' home you'd find the occasional photo of a very tiny Nana dragging a violin behind her. Some things were just meant to be, it would seem. Getting to her feet Nana stretches her arms way over her head and you can hear joints pop in protest as they had gotten used to her seated position.
"I thank you for acting as my audience and I sincerely hope I don't seem rude, but I feel a bit tired. I think all of the excitement of the day caught up with me after all. Perhaps we can continue this conversation later?" Collecting her bow and her violin case that had been resting at her feet, Nana offers Yuichi another smile. If only all of her audiences would be this attentive.
"After all we're competitors now, so we'll be seeing a lot of each other, no?"
