How could they just let her roam among them like she had done no wrong. So many of them had welcomed her back like she hadn’t just admitted to forty murders (sorry, thirty-eight. I know people like to be fucking factually correct) so Nana had stormed off to the rainforest on her own with nothing but the violin on her back and she’s been there for…
What time was it anyway? She had long since lost track of time since she had been out here, which wasn’t uncommon. There were periods of time back home when she would get into a mood and she would just lock herself away in her room and lose herself in the tones of dead musical geniuses so why not do that now? It was always something that worked to calm her down before, and it wasn’t like you had all as a collective just welcomed back someone who killed two people while trying to kill her or anything, right?
...She may be out here a while.

[attr="class","les"]Ever since Valentina's resurrection, things seemed to become more predictable to Mayumi. Next thing you know, she'll run into someone who'd rather jump into a leech-infested lake than spend time with her… and then she found Nana putzing around the rainforest.
It had been made clear before that Nana didn't agree with Mayumi's ideals, especially after the Seaside Trial's conclusion. However, the two had investigated with each other and exchanged valuable information, and both proved themselves very useful in the trial, though Nana was more dynamic. It honestly made Mayumi chuckle when she started kicking Valentina's purse. However, things were different now, and she assumed Nana would call her out for giving Valentina a helping hand. Regardless of what the violinist thought of her, Mayumi would prefer to get on her good side before things escalated into chaos.
She slowly walked towards the blonde girl, leaves crushing beneath her shoes, causing Nana to turn around.

A plus small talk, chief. If there was something that the violinist did not need right now it was one of the people who had welcomed the serial killer back into their midst with open arms with the logic of "pay no attention to the people who are mad at you for being a SERIAL KILLER, what do they know?" for a while Nana doesn’t say anything to acknowledge the appearance of the wide girl, simply keeping her eyes closed as she focused on the song she had been playing out there alone, and was secretly hoping that the other girl would take the hint and leave. However it soon became apparent that this was a hope that would not go fulfilled and she finally sighed, lowering her bow from her violin and turning her head so she could actually look at her.
“...I do not like partaking in small talk. Is there something you wanted? Don’t you have a serial killer to coddle?”

Nana didn't understand the misanthrope's intentions regarding the zombie aromatherapist. Although she did give off the impression of starting small talk, that was anything but what Mayumi had planned.
"Look, I agree with you. Valentina's a bitch and everything she did was fucking awful. But here's the thing, I believe that restoration is a better process than retribution. Just look at those Norwegian prisons that pamper their prisoners. They obviously don't deserve it, yet punishing them would only increase their likelihood to continue their fucking crimes. If those prisons were able to amend, murderers, rapists, child molesters, and even fucking terrorists, then who's to say that it can't work on a serial killer like Valentina? Sure, it's likely that it'll fail miserably and she'll just turn on everyone… again, but it never hurts to try. Besides, her execution was already enough as is."
Mayumi sighed, tired of her rambling. She folded her arms and looked Nana in the eyes.
"I'm fine if you disagree with me. After all, I'm just some misanthropic pessimistic fat ass loser. I'm aware of your perspective, but I respectfully disagree. I'd just… rather not have another shitty foe to worry about."

Ah, so like everything else about her it all came back to what she wanted. It was kind of sad how predictable the fat girl could be and as she talked Nana simply resumed her playing because she had come out her to be by herself and play in the first place before she had been so rudely interrupted. As she played however she was turning things over in her mind as she tried to think of something to retort with. It was fair to say that things that had happened from the last trial had kept her in a foul mood and the sound of the violin had always calmed her down before when things got on her nerves.
“No, I suppose you wouldn’t. After all, with your looks, attitude, general personality, the way you walk around here like your shit doesn’t stink, I imagine your enemies outnumber you about a thousand to one. Frankly the fact you haven’t been murdered yet is a borderline miracle.”
That could be said about almost all of them frankly, to be fair. With that the blonde girl shoves her violin into the case and slings it over her shoulder as if she was ready to storm off at any moment unless she was stopped.
…”Well, rest easy, Mayumi. If I do end up deciding to commit a murder, the only person I plan on killing is Valentina. Go worry about your other enemies.”

[attr="class","les"]Nana probably assumed that her rebuttal cut Mayumi deep, but the graphic designer expected her to say something along the lines of that.
Mayumi was already well aware of her flaws and rude attitude, so having it pointed out to her wouldn’t rustle her jimmies any time sooner. And that last bit about surviving this long, that didn’t affect her because her self esteem was already low as is. It didn’t add salt to the wound, it just didn’t get into her skin.
Mayumi simply just watched Nana as she haughtily walked away, as if roasting her was some sort of accomplishment, and remained silent. Nana was now the replacement for Valentina as the top of her shit list. | [attr="class","goodness"] ✉ @nobody ✎ 0000 words |
