nobody ever made you dig deeper
Root didn’t look back when Mariko said to wait up for him. Call it one of his flaws, but when he focused on something, he didn’t think of anything else but that which he was focusing on. He’d been caught by surprise both in the supply room and the ? ? ? room not long ago. It was quite possible that he was the intended target of the killings in the supply room, and the two dead just happened to stumble in when they were getting ready. Or he could be just an egotistical jerk who thought that everyone wanted him dead, well, except maybe Adrianna and Mariko. Those two were the exceptions, and well, they were exceptional.
After he finished his exploration of the café, Root made a few notes in his journal before finally turning back to Mariko who had followed him. “Alright, I think that’s all we’re going to find here. Next we’ll head over to the castle, maybe check out the calculator’s room.” And that was not just to see if he magically was just working on a similar math problem to the one he was working on earlier today. Even if… there was a little bit of hope that he might have. However, there was another reason he wanted to see Shiro’s room, so he could connect the pieces of information he had together… hopefully.
And so, Root made his way out of the café and towards the castle with Mariko in tow. His mind was whizzing around, wondering what happened, coming up with possible scenarios of what could happen. He hadn’t had such a mystery in a long while, and needed to know what happened. He had to know what was going on. He didn’t much care about the fact two people were dead, even though it was a big deal. It was two people who he didn’t much care, really, and in the end, knowing what happened was what really mattered to him.
Root reached Shiro’s room and walked in. “We’ll look around, see what we can find,” Root mumbled as he began searching the calculator’s room, for evidence, for clues, but also for possible solutions to his black hole problem.
