It was his second day without any sleep whatsoever. Thankfully Willow's occasional insomnia and night owl tendencies had given him plenty of tricks to keep himself awake. He would often have to stay up late in the pursuit of tricks or his occult practices. Occasionally he would spend entire nights devoted to research and head into school the next day. This motive was only now starting to really effect him, even so, as long as he was careful he could probably hold out another few days.
After he had finished the investigation of the new area, he had spent most of his time slowly walking through the park. Conserving energy all the while, by taking short breaks and moving again whenever he felt he was getting close to sleep. He had checked in on Saoirse and Alexia whenever he could find them. However he had spent most of his time looking after Adrianna.
Indeed, that was why he was currently at the wave pool. Adrianna had expressed considerable interest in checking out the pool, and after they last parted Willow thought she might come to the pool area. He had no intention of getting in the swimming pool himself, though at the very least he could see how the flower maiden was doing. He also had to admit that the possibility of seeing how Adrianna looked in swimwear would be a perk.
He hadn't yet sighted anyone. If he didn't do so soon, he would have to move on. He was tired enough already and he could feel his mind slowing down. Willow had to keep himself awake and aware and moving. If he wasn't talking to anyone, he had to be walking.

I wanted to go to sleep. There was no way I could function without it. My jokes were getting really bad. Like actually bad. Not your normal roll your eyes off kind of bad. Puns were not very good either. I needed to stay awake though. I didn't want to die like the lawyer guy the other day.
I decided to head to the wave pool to try to cool off a little. Water and the waves would keep me awake!
Out in the distance, I saw a person dressed in black. I was too sleepy to even bother to figure out who it was. I was heading in that direction anyways. As I got closer to the wave pool I passed the man in black and noticed it was Willow the Trickster.
As I pass him, I said to him "Hey there Pedo Rabbit" and kept on slowly walking to the wave pool.

"Pedo...rabbit?" Willow said blinking in confusion. Was that supposed to be a joke or something?
Iocus was the comedian. While Willow normally had tremendous amount of respect for the people in said occupation Iocus had acted not as a voice of reason and clarity but as a complete fool. He had been almost entirely useless and only better then Taro because he was less detrimental during the class trial.
"Hold on Iocus. Your a funny man right? A comedian. A joker. As someone who wears a fools mask and try's to point out the writing on the wall that everyone ignores....I have been quite confused at your point blank refusal to accept the situation we are in. Let me be clear that I am not trying to judge you. However I want to try and understand what made you think this wasn't a dangerous situation. Surely even if it was a test or what have you and everyone else thought it was real things could end up very deadly anyway. You see I don't believe that what you do and what I do are very different. The moment that gun was fired and the hoax wasn't up I knew it had to be real. That and Monokuma is too ridiculous to be a joke and too surreal to be a trick. What has been going on in that head of yours Iocus?" Willow said. He wasn't scolding. Not yet at least. He honestly wanted to know.
Surely it was Iocus' responsibility as a comedian to see things as they are and point it out? Besides entertainment, that was his only other responsibility. Both being incredibly important jobs which shouldn't be frittered away. If Iocus was a fool, Willow could forgive him. If Iocus was negligent, Willow had to reprimand him. If Iocus was suspicious, he had to keep an eye out for him. As long as Willow was within the game those were his responsibilities. The trickster couldn't allow himself to be careless.

What was with the interrogation? I was too tired to understand what he was talking about. I think he was asking me what I was doing before the trial? I don't really understand why the questions were asked but I guess an answer would appease him.
"Oh, I thought we were in a game show at first. Haha! It was pretty funny when I realized I wasn't. It was just a huge misunderstanding. I understand our situation now. I understand the ugly bear wants us to kill each other for some reason."
I put on my smile.
"Why are you here anyways? You don't seem like you are going into the wave pool. Are you waiting for somebody? Are you planning on spying on a girl while she is swimming perhaps?"
This conversation might help me stay awake longer. I am really tired and coming up with new jokes has been a really difficult endeavor lately. This might make the comedy juices flow in my brain again. Or at least I hope it does. I guess it depends on how serious he is today. He is a trickster but he is much more serious than you would expect somebody with his talent to be.

Willow sighed, he wanted to give Iocus the benefit of the doubt but it appeared he was indeed an idiot. Of course it was possible that he was one of the traitors or the Mastermind and that this was all an attempt to lull them into complacency. Regardless Iocus was on his short list of people to watch out for with Taro and Root.
"Yes, thank you Mr.Hilaris for catching up with the rest of the class. As for why I am here....will I thought someone else would arrive. I am sure you know of Ms.Kravenski...Adrianna. She seemed interested in the pool so I wanted to see if she would show up." Willow said. He didn't exactly trust the comedian but he didn't see any harm in telling him this information. Willow doubted that Iocus would be the one to kill this time anyway.

"So you are just waiting next to the water? Why don't you join Adrianna when she gets here? You might be able to stay awake longer if you do."
Why is he so serious all the time? I needed to get to the bottom of this.
"Either way, while I am here. I might as well try to stay awake by talking. I don't think I'm going to be making many jokes. I'm too tired for that anyways. I can barely talk as it is. So let me ask you this, why are you so serious all the time?"
Even if this conversation fails, I could always just keep heading to the wave pool and swim for a while. Of course, once Adrianna arrives they would be there as well and that would make things awkward...Haha! That would be funny!

"For someone like me that would be highly inadvisable. Such a thing would serve only to further physically exhaust as well as relax me. No, the light exercise of walking should be enough to keep me awake." Willow said. Besides Adrianna is a swimsuit would be stimulating enough...
"We are in a life or death situation here. Four people are dead. My life and the lives of everyone I have so far formed a connection with are in dire, immediate risk. Why am I so serious? I don't know, how about you tell me? The better question is why are you so cheerful? There are traitors in our midst and you could very well be one of them. That would explain a lot actually. For being the so called "Ultimate Comedian" I haven't heard anything funny from you since we got here. " Willow said. While he was here he might as well take the risk of calling him out.
He wanted to see some sort of reaction from Iocus. He mostly just brushed things off in a way that was very disconcerting. His mental stability was questionable. So Willow wanted to poke it with a stick and see if it fell apart.

The way he questioned me was pretty funny. I couldn't tell if it was from the lack of sleep or that's just how he is all the time. It made me laugh out loud.
"HAHAHAHAHA"
I composed myself by holding back the laughter, but I could not shake the smile from my face.
"Why do you think I am a traitor? Because you don't have a sense of humor? I haven't seen you trick a single person since we have met so I can say the same for you. Unless YOU are the traitor and tricking US. If you keep talking like this, your girlfriends are going to get annoyed and leave you. Smile more and maybe they will like you more. Oh, and why am I so cheerful? There is no point of worrying about stuff you don't have control over my dear Pedo Rabbit."
It may be from the lack of sleep but I seriously can't get a good joke out. I'm sure there was a good one in there somewhere. Either way, Willow needs to calm down and lighten up a bit.

Willow couldn't help but laugh. The idiot, in his blind lashing out, had managed to hit a sore spot.
"That's the funniest thing I've heard you say since we got here. Listen Mr.Hilares, you can accuse me of being the traitor if you wish. Just don't accuse me of not having a sense of humor. Ms. Kravenski and Ms.Takana and Saoirse have all given me reason to smile even here. You haven't kept us cheerful Iocus, and you haven't kept us safe. So tell me Mr.Hilares, what have you actually done to help your classmates here?" Willow questioned.
"And don't call me that ridiculous name". Willow added.

The Trickster was visibly offended. That wasn't my intention but hey, its pretty funny when you think about it. I really wish he wasn't so tense all the time though. I was giving him actual advice but I guess he took it the wrong way. Either way, I should answer him so that I can get out of here quickly. I wouldn't want him to miss his perverted staring time with Adrianna anyways.
"I haven't been trying to help you guys out. I haven't been trying to keep you guys cheerful. When I say things it isn't for the sake of anybody here but my own. Whether you laugh or not at my jokes it doesn't make a difference to me. If I find something I will say it. It is the only way for me to live and forget. It doesn't matter what happens to any of us. Things happen to people. People die every day. The difference is how you handle those situations. I choose to smile and make jokes. What are YOU choosing to do Mr. Pedo Rabbit? How are YOU doing to protect the ones you care for? What CAN you do? The ugly bear can just show up and kill any of us like it was nothing for no reason. We are powerless here."
Man, seriously. I am too tired for this. I want to go swim...

Idiot. He understood exactly how it felt to cope. What else was putting on masks? What else was playing tricks? His entire life was coping with grief and boredom and guilt. Struggling to do better, to be better. to make a better world.
Now his entire life was on hold. And his loved ones could be at the mercy of some horrible group of sadists.
Iocus was like him. Weak. But he didn't know how to work with it. How to make the skills he did have of use. How to hide the weakness, so he could be effective.
"I am doing everything I can. People die everyday, that much is true. But I can never accept that. I have to keep trying to save people. Everyone I can. If I don't...then I can never reconcile my past with the rest of my life. We aren't entirely powerless here. The bear and his masters have weaknesses, and I plan to exploit them. That's what I'm best at. So keep telling bad jokes and surviving. Be as selfish as you want to be. Because at the end of all this, I'll be the guy you'll thank for getting you out of here alive." Willow said. And with that he turned and walked away.
Adrianna had to be somewhere after all. And he had to keep himself up by walking. Once he found her, he had some things he should probably tell her. If he could thank Iocus for one thing it would be for reminding him of that.
Dark red kisses, and cups of coffee, and a lifetime of trouble and a promise that was nearly broken and a promise that was broken but never forgotten. Those were all reasons to keep living. Adrianna, Saoirse, and Alexia...they were all reasons to keep on living too. Iocus was distant, like mist receding into the horizon. Willow could have ended up like that, if he didn't have his mother to make him strong.
He would figure this out and get everyone back home. He had to. There was no other option.
Willow would never leave a friend behind again.
