Science is the Poetry of Reality

Up next on the places he wanted to investigate included the laundromat. He wasn't an idiot and knew that Mariko had the key to a potentially dangerous evidence disposal unit. Someone could have possibly stolen it from her, or possibly she had agreed to it, but didn't realize what was going on or something like that. The one possibility that remained included that she was behind it all, but he refused to believe that could happen, even if the possibility occurred to him.
Regardless, the laundromat was the area he was going to go to next, provided Mariko didn't object. While there he planned to finish changing the binding on his injured hand, and then take a look around. The Nurse's Office was obviously a good place to look, even if they ended up finding a body. He regretted it slightly, only because he preferred not to make Mariko have to see the dead people for too long, but he couldn’t not investigate the whole area since they were already there. Of course the decision had been made that Willow and Iocus would patrol between the two bodies, and therefore the bodies would be guarded, so at least they didn't have to stay with the body.
Root allowed his mind to wander to the conversation that got cut short by finding the body of Nana Okabe, which made him feel like an idiot he didn't see it instantly (he was really tired, but that didn't mean he couldn't hate himself for it). Her response had surprised him, and something inside him made him feel really happy for the way she had said he didn't fail her, and never could. While he wasn't going to actively prove her wrong, he was pretty sure he would prove her wrong eventually, and that made his heart sink.
"Thank you," Root said out of the blue as they approached the laundromat, "For believing me, even if I haven't given you a reason to." Root laughed slightly as he opened the door to the laundromat.
Please not another body. Please not another body. Please not another body.
