Something was off.
The ? ? ? Room had never been so dark before, so…obscured from the rest of the small world you’d been encapsulated in. It was as if someone had sucked the light from the area, for whatever purpose it served. And on the paper sheet on the wall, there were eighteen answers as alwa—
Eighteen? No, that couldn’t be possible. Eighteen answers meant either Monokuma was answering, or…who knows. But something was definitely off. The tarp was…ruffled, even moreso than it had been during investigations for Saoirse’s murder.
You could always remove the tarp.

Ignia walked into the ? ? ? room, the very same one she investigated with Taro not too long. She knew exactly what compelled her to visit it again. She made use of her 'female intuition' as she called it. She 'had a bad feeling about something'. And before something really bad happened, she decided to investigate on her own.
When she entered the room, it was dark. She pulled out her lighter and turned it on to illuminate the area. She would've used the light switch if she found one, but she didn't. Via an unknown force, Ignia moved to the paper where she wrote down an answer some time ago. Looking at it however made the Arsonist scratch her head.
"Huh, there's eighteen of 'em? Weren't we seventeen to begin with? Lessee..." She began to quickly count the students that entered Monoworld. "Me, Root, Mariko, Taro, Iocus, Koji, Alexia, Nana, Saoirse, Adrianna, Joaquin, Shiro, Tamashi, Mugen, Mamouro, Daisuke and Willow..."
After some thinking, she noticed that the tarp looked off. The white-haired girl apparently didn't notice that when she was both busy with looking for evidence for the second trial and having not had sleep for several days.
Ignia decided to remove the tarp, to see what is behind it.

Ken had somehow evaded capture by the bear for a while now, but he was still in serious danger. That mastermind had eyes and ears everywhere, even the slightest mistake and he could end up dead, or worse. He'd been suspicious of the place labeled " Room" ever since he got here, knowing that there's more than meets the eye in there. He looked around the blank room, noticing the paper with the question "Where Are You?" written on it. Using the pen he always kept with him, he wrote down "Somewhere in the Park" under all the other answers. He might as well show the students there's someone else here. Hus gaze shifted over to the tarp. He knew exactly what it was hiding, but getting behind was the problem. When the fire girl had entered in, Ken quickly fled into the shadows, not wanting to be caught for any reason. He was up in one of the corner ceilings, something he couldn't do before his training. And it was still hard, but he wasn't going to get caught for anything. He watched as the girl looked at the paper, with his answer on it. Good. Read it and tell the others. Just let me do my work.Ken's eyes widened as the girl walked over to the tarp, and began to reach for it. What was he gonna do? If he intervened he would blow his cover, but if he didn't... "NO! STOP!" Ken leaped off his place on the ceiling. He fell right to the ground and in one swift motion grabbed the girl's wrist before she could touch the tarp.

Taro heard a voice. A voice unfamiliar to him. A voice that demanded his immediate attention.
He rushed to the ? ? ? room and saw a man he never saw before.
"Mr. Birdie, I presume." Taro offered a hand. "The pleasure is all mine, I assure you."
Taro smirked.
"Now, I do have one pressing question at the moment. Who are you really? Why are you hear? And, most importantly, why are you trying to ruin my endgame? Any order you like, I'm not picky."
Taro kept his other hand in his pocket clenched around a pistol. Taro knew it wasn't loaded, but he just wanted to see the extent of this Birdie's training.

For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love. It had been only a day since the motive was announced about this birdie being killed and being able to get someone out. Root had been spending time with Mariko more than he had when, well he was avoiding her. However, there were times they spent alone, obviously. Root had thought long and hard on what Iocus had told him yesterday, even if he dismissed the comedian as an idiot aloud. There was always some merit in what another said, especially when it was regarding something Root knew very little about. However, this was one of those times when he was alone. He was seeking a new environment, seeing as his room was a bit stuffy at times and with three projects the walls were too covered for comfort. Alone and space to spread around? The ? ? ? room seemed a premiere area to go to seeing as few people went there, it was covered with Monokuma propaganda but he could spread out and not be disturbed.
And so that was where he headed, three journals in hand. While he would need more, three would be a good start. Provided that the bear didn't complain about his papers, but he could always stack up and pack up when he decided to leave. He planned on coming here somewhat often as long as three projects were still going. Which meant he hadn't completed his camera at this point, and he had yet to confess to Mariko his feelings. However, little did Root know shit was going to go down in the same room he strolled into as a man fell from the ceiling and stopped Ignia from doing something. And apparently Taro sensed it somehow and came running, starting asking the guy questions.
"What the fuck is going on?" Root said focusing in on the scene before him. The man was obviously the one they were supposed to kill. His face hardened from the initial shock and Root thought about the gun he had snagged and carried around since yesterday for protection, safely hidden in his lab coat that seemed to hold everything from pens and pencils to his every day notebook. It'd be so easy. "Shut up Taro. No one cares what you have to say." Then again, he couldn't easily reach for the weapon seeing as his hands were holding his three notebooks. And of course Mariko probably wouldn't like him killing someone… but it was risk free and it would get her out. "The real question is, why shouldn't we kill you?" Words: 425 | @next

I was walking back towards the castle as I heard some commotion coming from the ? ? ? room. I had no idea how to pronounce that but everybody seemed to call it the ? ? ? room so I went with it. It must have been another corpse or something. Maybe they are role-playing their own small killing game in there.
I wanted to join their role playing game so I decided to check it out and investigate. Hopefully I get to create my own character!
I walked in there only find disappointment...They were role playing a drama...
"Hey why are they calling you birdie? Are you a professional golfer or something? Cause you don't look like a bird. You are missing your feathers, and beak. Maybe you are one of those animorphs that I keep hearing about?"
The situation was WAY too tense.
"The situation is way too tense. Like my digestive system after eating Indian food..."
I chuckled a little.
"WOW! I'm sorry! That was a bad joke! Pretty shitty if you ask me! Just like my days when I eat Indian food!"
I cracked up on that one.
I glanced at everybody. I glanced at the room...and that's when I noticed it!
I did my best Ackbar impression.
"It's a tarp!"

When Ken heard the door open, his instincts told him to get in front of the girl. He wasn't going to let any more of these innocent kids die. His eyes widened when he saw who it was. Taro Yamada.
Keeping his feet firmly planted in front of the girl, all he could do was smirk as he spoke.
"Birdie? Where did you hear that ridiculous name?"
Keeping his hand hovering over his gun, in case anything happens, he listened as the boy in the lab coat, presumably Alexander Root, let out the question he knew was on all of the students minds.
"Listen, I'm here to save you and expose the one who brought you here. And the only way I can do that is if I'm alive, so it would be best to actually think before you act for once."
He shifted his focus back to the mastermind's puppet. "I can't allow you to finish your plans, or rather, your boss's plans. If the endgame you have in mind comes to fruition...the despair that would spread through the world would be unimaginable! So I'm gonna stop that from happening, in any way I can."
His hand slowly moved closer to his gun, starting to shake, from anger and nervousness.

Taro pulled out the gun in his pocket and pointed it straight at the man's face.
"Clearly you don't know when to keep your mouth shut. If you wanted to keep yourself alive, you shouldn't have told me things like, I don't know, informing me that you will stop my plans. And clearly you are too much of a nervous wreck to pull out that gun. Let's hope, for your sake, that your capable enough to prevent my plans into coming into fruition. And yes, I do mean my plan. Monokuma only made some edits here and there on it. But back to the important questions, who are you and why do you feel the need to indulge in this little hero complex of yours. And, are you as talented as the rest of us here?"
Taro kept eyeing the tarp every now and then.
"It seems that you do not wish for the tarp to be uncovered. Unfortunately for you, we seem to be at odds here. Alexander Root." He raised his voice on Root's name to emphasize it.
"Unless you want to see what happens if Mariko loses all the brains out of her skull with a nicely executed shot, then I suggest that you, or someone else here, discover the mysteries of the tarp and why Tweets-a-lot doesn't want us to find out."

[/s] "Yummy, yummy, food food food."Even here it was nice to see there were some simple pleasures. Though there had been so much suffering, so much tragedy that there was still something that could make her as happy as a stupid dry sandwich either spoke to the fact that this place still hadn't made her completely numb inside or it spoke to the face she may be just a little bit ditzy Either way Mariko had one half of a sandwich crammed into her mouth (which honestly probably wasn't smart. that's a choking hazard if I've ever seen one) and she had nine more stuffed into the pocket of her shirt. She probably would have made her way into her room as usual if she hadn't caught a glimpse of people walking off in the other direction. She gave it a few moments thought before shrugging to herself and following behind the last person who entered and boy did she enter at the best time "Unless you want to see what happens if Mariko loses all the brains out of her skull with a nicely executed shot, then I suggest that you, or someone else here, discover the mysteries of the tarp and why Tweets-a-lot doesn't want us to find out.""Mmmph?"Sheesh, did she have timing or did she have timing. Swallowing what she had in her mouth ifyouknowwhatImean and panting a little bit from the effort, Mariko took two steps to the left so she was now behind those closer to Taro just in case she needed to bolt, not even registering in her brain there was somebody else here yet. She was shaken by fear and when she does she still stands behind the other boys just in case Taro pointed the gun at her to make his threats legitimate "That's him? Birdie?"Nothing gets by you Mari. For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love. The whole situation was tense and of course in walks Iocus. While Root had gained a kind of respect for the guy due to the whole 'giving him advice on Mariko' thing, he would never admit it. Plus, the guy had bad timing when it came to jokes. However, his final joke did earn a slight smirk from Root, who, as it would turn out was a sci-fi fan and therefore understood that reference.
Finally, when the man spoke, and talked to Root, he scoffed. "You are really doing a good job at saving us. But you probably know about the price on your head. We kill you, someone can get out." However, Taro had to be an idiot and pulled out a gun, causing Root to take a step back from Taro and he dropped his notebooks as he raised his hands as if being held up. It was a convenient excuse to free up his hands and drop the empty notebooks. The one he wrote in all the time was still in his lab coat. Along with his protection. Meaning the gun.
And of course Mariko had to walk in right as Taro spouted off his threats to Mariko. Root was a stubborn idiot at times and he wouldn't stoop so low as to succumb to the idiot's threats. If anything this guy here would stop Taro. However, he couldn't risk that. Yet, he also didn't want to appear violent to Mariko… but he wanted to protect her. So, Root made his move to grab his small gun from his lab coat and pointed it at the back of Taro's head. His speed was one of the things he was actually good at, as well as his intelligence.
"Don't fucking threaten me. You pull your trigger, and I pull mine just as fast. Now I know you want to die Taro, however, unlike you, I wouldn't aim to kill you," Root lowered the gun slightly to a spot on his neck, "I know a lot about the body, and I'm pretty sure I can aim this thing well enough to paralyze you for life. You'd be unable to do anything for the rest of your life. I suggest you drop your gun, and step aside. Let's let the adults talk, alright?" If Taro did anything too sudden, the trigger would be pulled, and well, his finger only had to pull a short distance, a disarm wouldn't work, so unless Taro wanted to be a quadriplegic, he would at least take the threat seriously.

Just as quickly as Taro pulled out his gun, Ken pulled his, aiming it right at Taro. His hands stopped shaking almost instantly, as a new calm, more serious demeanor overtook him.
"I suggest you drop that gun right now before I send a bullet right into your skull, and I don't have to be talented like you guys to do that."
Ken's breathing had slowed, he was fully concentrating now, to every word that was being said, to any movement made, he wasn't going to let anyone die right now. He wasn't going to kill Taro, but he couldn't let him know that.
He turned his head to Alexander again, keeping his gun firmly pointed at Taro.
"So? One of you guys kills me and then ONE of you gets to leave. You let me live, and I'll ensure all of you, sans the mastermind and mr. trigger happy over there, will get out of here."
"Now listen to me, stay as far away from that tarp as possible. It hides the place the mastermind does their dirty work, and one touch and you'll be nothing more than a lifeless corpse." Ken slowly took some steps back, almost as if to block the others from getting close to it.

It all happened too quickly for Ignia. First a random guy came out of the shadows and stopped her from pulling on the tarp, then a whole load of people walked into the ? ? ? Room and now Taro was threatening to kill everyone. The guy who held Ignia's wrist then turned out to be this Birdie person who was mentioned in Nana's trial. And now just about everyone pulled a gun on each other.
"Woah, what the fuck is happenin' here?", she inquired. She then looked at the tarp that she nearly touched. "So the bastard who's behind this is sittin' there behind that thing, 'n' it's rigged to kill ya if ya touch it? How do ya know about this 'n' how can we be sure to trust ya?", she asked the person who saved her life.
Upon listening, she had to agree with the unknown person for now. "Before any of ya kill him, why don't we listen to what he has to say? If we hear him out, we might get new information." Of course she could expect a sassy retort or two, and she doesn't expect anyone to actually listen to her, but she thought it was worth a try.

Willow was doing his usual rounds of the park. A new area had been opened up which means everything had to be reexamined for potential clues. The people behind this could have changed something in the park, or perhaps the buildings in formerly opened areas of the park had clues that could only be revealed by the context of other areas of the park.
He was swinging by the ? ? ? room to see if anything had changed in the most suspicious building of the park when he heard a rather tense conversation inside. The trickster stealthily approached the door and listened in for a few minutes. Finally he decided that entering would be relatively safe and he had to before anyone did anything rash.
He walked through the door as casually as possible.
"Well I see cooler heads have prevailed here. So many guns. It's sort of a nostalgic feeling. Reminds me of back home in America." Willow snarkerd. It was best to attempt to slightly diffuse a situation like this through humor.
He looked at the unfamiliar figure here. This must be the person they were looking for. Willow cursed his lack of foresight in this matter. He had failed to bring a gun. He thought for the moment that guns would complicate his attempt at gaining trust with the others, and he would pick one up in case of an eventuality like this once he had talked with a few individuals now...things were way ahead of schedule and he was practically naked.
"Root, if Taro even looks like he is about to do something rash, please paralyze him. I agree with Ms.Brand. We need to know what's going on here first and foremost. Let's allow our Birdie the benefit of the doubt for now."
"You must be the Birdie Monokuma was talking about. Your cuter than I expected. I believe you have some explaining to do. The bear said you were from an organization called, "The Future Foundation." Who are they and what is your plan here?" Willow asked.
This situation had to be managed carefully. If it wasn't, all his efforts in saving the others would be for nothing.

Ken's gaze quickly shifted over to the girl who was silent up until recently. He had wondered why she was so quiet the whole time, was it the shock of it all? Everything did escalate rather quickly. And he did just kind of fall from the ceiling onto her, so it was understandable.
"Listen, I only know as much as I do because Future Foundation, the organization I work for, has been keeping an eye on this place, watching it very closely."
Ken smirked with an almost evil expression on his face.
"And if you don't believe me, you can get your little friend, Taro over there to demonstrate."
Ken's smirk slowly faded as his more serious face took over again and he steadied his aim on Taro again.
"Now listen, Future Foundation is nothing to be feared, all we want to do is restore hope to the world. After...what happened."
Ken glared at Taro even more than he already was. There were daggers shooting from his eyes and plunging deep into Taro's skull, metaphorically, of course. But there was some intense anger coming from Ken. Ken took a deep breath and started up his speech again.
"Future foundation is an organization founded to rid the world of despair. Specifically the despair that's going on right outside the walls of this park. The world is more gruesome and disgusting right now than you kids could ever imagine."

For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love. While Root wanted to respond to Ken's answer about why they shouldn't kill him, he held in his response. 'Yes, but there is only one person who I need to get out. Why should we trust you to save us, when I have a guarantee that she gets out. However, Mariko was here, and he didn't want to paint an even larger suspicion on him. If he killed the guy, then he would be the one voted to be executed, and that was major risk. Either way, it seemed that at this moment they were working together to keep Taro at bay, and at least there was that.
"Since most of us are here, why don't we take a vote. One, the life of Birdie here. If we vote to kill him, then we will have to decide who. But if we keep him alive, we make sure to promise to vote off the one who does, or the one who they cared the most about for execution to prevent anyone from taking Monokuma's motive," Root suggested quickly, holding onto his gun firmly, finger on the trigger, ready, just in case, "Second, remove the tarp or not. If we do remove it, then Taro will be the one who does. I vote Taro takes off the tarp. Otherwise we leave the tarp be, and not take the risk. I also vote we… don't kill the bird."
Unwavering in his resolve, his gun stayed train against Taro's neck at the spot he knew would paralyze the guy. The question remained, why not just shoot him now and now worry about it? Root was close and nearly at point blank range behind Taro right now, so it wasn't like Taro could dodge it. Yet, for now, since he wasn't making any threatening movements, he couldn't pull it. The instant it happened, Root would pull his trigger and there was no way Taro could dodge a bullet, given Root's fast reflexes and how he would pull the trigger faster than Taro could most likely move.
"So you know what is out there?" Root said almost with a dry throat as he thought about his sister. His eyes remained trained on Taro, however, completely unwavering in his watching of the guy because he didn't want Mariko, or anyone else really, to get hurt. "Our families. Our friends. Are they alright? Is my sister alright?" He needed to know this. If this guy knew, he needed to know what he knew. It would either break him or it would make him more determined to get out of here.
