01. Little London
Welcome!
As you enter Little London through one of the various shuttle tubes scattered around the New World Order, blinding lights dazzle all the passengers, veterans and newcomers alike. For a moment, it’s overwhelming. Soon enough, your eyes adjust; what a sight it is. The streets look like Victorian-era cobblestone, but on closer inspection, it’s a clever trick using patterns, glass, and stylish sealants--truly the amalgamation of function in conjunction with fashion. Still, the streets are not what blinds you. Nor is it the sidewalks that hum lowly as conveyer belts within them move hordes of suit-clad people along at breakneck speeds. Rather, it’s the buildings: sky-tearing behemoths of iron girder and glittering polished glass. Each room in these buildings is lit with a clinical white glow that seems to reach every imaginable shadow and erase it. It’s efficient. It’s a bit disconcerting to some.
Each of these buildings is filled with a plethora of mannequin-esque characters; if you’ve seen a piece of old media that depicts businesspeople, you might have realized that some things never change. These people all look the same. Men, women, and the androgynous sport the same suit in a few muted tones, all wearing natural hair slicked back to shining perfection. In hindsight, that might have contributed to the blinding nature of the city. The inhabitants speak formally for the most part, but pleasantries are far from a foreign concept. Time is money, but so is a connection. These people aren’t outwardly cruel, or indifferent. Upon meeting one, you might faintly recognize their overflowing charisma. A more self-aware person might feel uneasy around these people.
Nevertheless, you’ve entered the political capital of the NWO. These people are aspiring or official members of the Future Foundation, and they all have important roles--or so they say--no matter how large or small. Many will schmooze their way throughout life, buying rounds of coffee, or providing free internship as a higher-up’s “yes-man”.
The Future Foundation itself lays in the heart of the city, and visitors to it are easily guided along by the moving sidewalks. The Sector is meticulously organized. The building itself is much like the other skyscrapers of the city, albeit larger and with several plain blue accents all around the walls. The windows stop half-way to the top. Visitors to the Foundation may enter the lobby and several of the free meeting rooms on the first few floors. If requested, you can make an appointment with an FF Representative who will hear your questions, suggestions, or complaints.
Welcome to Sector I: Little London. Please enjoy your stay!
