Post by Alexander Root on Dec 10, 2015 15:14:27 GMT -5
nobody ever made you dig deeper Root stared at the bear with disbelief. Of course his plan had backfired and the bear took the questions he asked to the group against the three questions they were allowed. His mouth hung partial open and his eyes were slightly narrowed. Normally he’d have a biting comeback (‘But I wasn’t asking you, teddy bear,’ or something along those lines), but right now he knew he needed to hold his tongue. After all, the bear had control. Root was used to shutting up when it benefited him to do so. Well, not all the time, but when it was important. However, it wasn’t like he could just apologize to the bear in the public. No, he would in private, and hope that the bear knew something about what he needed to know.
He didn’t care about the power, though it was enticing… It would mean the bear would be the last one he’d have to suck up to, and he wouldn’t ever have to worry about funding, just think of all the things he could get done!
Okay. On second thought, he might care about it a little bit.
However, none of it would be worth it if it if he didn’t know the information he wanted to know. If… he knew that information, it might be worth it. He could do whatever he wanted without ever having to worry about getting funding. Obviously, Hope’s Peak wasn’t going to last forever, and after that he didn’t want to bow down to anyone’s wishes, like a company who would use the money to line their pockets. He didn’t care about the money itself, but to be able to control his own life, was a big deal. To be free. He hated to admit it, but freedom was something a scientist like him never could really have, because in order to build anything for his experiments, he needed help.
He already knew where he would go too. France. So he could finally stop using his stupid small super collider only a mere kilometer in size. No, he could use the Cern Supercollider that he’d wanted to use ever since he heard of it but he was ‘too young’. Yet, it would all be pointless if he lost his reason to study and learn about the world, because despite his outward ego, he knew he didn’t matter. As of this moment there was only one person in the world who mattered.
Root closed his mouth and pressed his lips together firmly, though he was still eyeing the bear, only glancing the rules, being a fast reader, and deciding he probably wouldn’t remember them later anyways and he’d have to refer back to it later. People began introducing themselves, so Root put on an amused look once more, as if he didn’t care at all, even if he was writing it down. Comedian. Ha. That was hilarious. A useless talent if Root said so hims–
Root’s mind immediately changed when the girl wearing a hoodie with green hair introduced herself. Director. His expression changed only slightly, and he even forgot to shout ‘no one does’ to the first kid to introduce themselves. Not wanting anyone else to notice the change, Root immediately continued to look around with an amused look, his eyes lingering on the director when he looked in her general direction.
The fact she was a director was the first thing to draw his attention, but it was also the way she said it. So… shy, so innocent. One might think Root would like those who were smart like him, and while he did, there was something about the innocent (and the curious) that he had always liked. Damn it. He couldn’t do anything like that here. No, there was only one person in his life he could allow himself to grow attached to, and it wasn’t himself, no matter how much he seemed to care about himself.
Root quickly looked back down at the rules a second time, now with the purpose of not letting his eyes wander, though he wasn’t reading at all. He was thinking. Thinking of that time and why he couldn’t allow himself to get attached. No, he still had purpose, he still had someone to work for, someone to leave a world where they knew things, a world where they might be able to fix everything for that person. There was no need to get more attached to other people. And yet, as he had always, he’d felt the sting of loneliness, the ache to just have friends. However, he wasn’t willing to compromise himself to cure himself of that. Nor would he sacrifice his research. Then he’d lose his way, and he could never fulfill his promise, his purpose in life. In a way, it was an excuse, that he’d be the jerk he always was, and continue to research so no one would want to be his friend.
However, he couldn’t pull himself to be rude to the director, and his curiosity over the… Flower Maiden? He didn’t expect that one. She seemed… too nice. Something was weird, odd about her, and it made him curious. As if she were a puzzle to solve, as well as someone he could grow to even like… Whoa there Root. That was getting a little personal. He needed to remember the whole last thought process where he couldn’t have friends. Ha. It wasn’t like she would like him anyways.
“My name is Alexander Root. I want to make it abundantly clear, that it is not a pleasure to meet any of you morons,” Root huffed, but his eyes trailed over to Adrianna then over to Mariko. After all, they were the only two that had peaked his interest, the only two that had so far made an impression on him other than ‘moron’. “Well, you’re not all morons, I suppose. It’s nice to meet the non-morons here.” He flashed a smile at Mariko before looking over the crowd once more. Names and titles. He needed to write all of them down, so he wasn’t leaving yet. It was more important to know the people here, especially if one of them was going to try to kill him, than it was to know where they were, at least for now.

Tamashi almost burst out laughing. This was the stupidest motive he's ever heard? Grandeur? Domination? What a load of bullshit!.....to him.... "Shit...." He knows human nature like the back of his hand. Some with weak hearts will react differently to fear. So when someone talks about freedom or power, those who have unstable mentality in this situation can grasp on that false hope, and work towards it. Everyone is his enemy, and he is his only friend. Him, and his brain versus the world...

Hmm... a guaranteed position of power over the country of your choice eh? Well, at the very least his parents would be happy if he took that option. It'd be much more stable than boxing, assuming he didn't swear at a reporter every now and then. But he could never do that. Him? In politics? It's be way too boring for him. Always having to worry about being PC and not saying anything to offend anyone, having any one slip-up permanently plastered over your career? Nah, beating others up in the name of a good fight was the path for him.
Taking his mind off of the motive for this teddy's plans, he noticed the other students were introducing themselves, a few walking away dismissively. A little rude! But maybe they were just ignoring what had happened in favour of trying to leave. Mamouro couldn't blame them. On the off chance that the bear was right, and they really did have to stay here forever unless they went mad and tried to kill each other, he decided it was best to introduce himself.
"Hey, how you all doing? The names Mamouro Shabots, the Super High School Level Boxer, but you can call me Mamouro, Shabby, Fuck-face, or anything at all you can come up with. I don't really mind. Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet'cha!"

Absolute power.
That was the motive. Koji thought this wasn't very strong. He didn't care much for power. The only thing he cared to have power over was the forest, and he already had that power. After all,
Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
However, that girl with the fire affinity seemed to be pretty cute. He decided to walk off and catch up with her to talk with her more.

Love cannot fill the thickened lung with breath, Nor clean the blood, nor set the fractured bone; Yet many a man is making friends with death Even as I speak, for lack of love alone.
It seems that only a handful of students are left now that many have taken their leave. Some leave behind names to match with their faces, and others nothing at all save for chilly silences.
Mugen makes a face of discomfort from where he rests beside the fountain. He should introduce himself as well—it is only polite to once others have bestowed their names upon you—but he wishes to remain silent. It is as if the very moment he speaks, something will shatter, perhaps a ward or a spell that protects them from this seed of madness the bear has sown...
But power is not something Mugen longs for. What he wants is the comfort of home and the sway of life as the world slowly flows on around him. He wants to continue watching as the seasons ceaselessly turn, wants to continue singing songs of praise and gratitude for this small life he has been given. Carefully, Mugen rises to his feet.
"I am Mugen of the forest. They call me Mononoke." The words tumble from his lips as something others can neither see nor hear soundlessly crumbles. Without words, Mugen bids it farewell, thanking it for the work it has done before he presses his hands to his thighs and bows low. Straightening once more, the green-haired briefly wonders if he too should take his leave, but instead decides to stay, only drifting a little further to inspect the plastic foliage. made by redox of gs

| HERE'S A LULLABY TO CLOSE TO YOUR EYES Your tears mean nothing to me Suddenly, every student was stopped dead in their tracks by a horrid, grating honking coming from their ElectroIDs. It only multiplied in decibals with every few seconds, until some kids had to clap their hands over the ears. Was it cruel? Was it harsh? Yes. But it was necessary! To Monokuma's displeasure, these brats hadn't taken quite the shining to his motive. They truly didn't believe their host, the one who pulled all the park's strings? Or perhaps some had just decided they were “heroes”. To Monokuma, the only good thing about heroes...was the delightful noises they made when you broke them.
Once everyone had taken their IDs out once more, the noise ceased...as their screens darkened. A few seconds of silence, then one echoing click as videos came to life on the screens. Families. Friends. Pets, loved ones, neighbors, homes, workplaces...each student found what they held nearest in the looking glass. It was stereotypical, to be honest, as every student found their dearest people wishing them well at the academy of Hope's Peak. And as an eerie silence fell as the last clip ended, that echoing click again. This time every child found the antithesis of their former lives. Homes destroyed, friends laying unconscious, bleeding...dead? In some, goosebumps were raised as a vaguely familiar body was dragged out of frame. One student even had the displeasure of seeing their pet, “playing” dead for the very last time! Their horrified noises...it was like music to the bear's ears. As much as he cared, wasn't he allowed to enjoy himself too?
“Ahh...and that is your second motive, kiddies. What happened to your loved ones, huh?! Are they alive, dead, hurt...kidnapped?!” And to emphasize his point, an echoing boom as the same blood-red words appeared on every screen.
“WHAT HAPPENED HERE? FIND OUT AFTER GRADUATION!” “Aren't you just dying to see what's become of your loved ones?! Well, I know, but I'm not teeeeeeeeeeeelling~! I have answers. I have power. This isn't the tea cups anymore, boys and girls. Thrills, chills, and spills await you in the Theme Park Life of Mutual Killing! NOW, LET'S GET THIS SHOW ON! THE! ROAD!”
“NORTH GATE, I COMMAND THEE TO OPEN!”
And with a bright flashing explosion, the sealed gate burst open. A castle loomed in the distance...as well as several other areas. But as the distracted students looked away from the new area, it became apparent that Monokuma had vanished, and the fountain had returned to normal. No more answers, it seemed.

Taro looked around at the others. There was something fucked up about this. Something incredibly fucked up. The faces of the others made it very clear that, even for the briefest of milliseconds, murdering one of the strangers could be the best solution at the time.
But who will pull the trigger, maybe someone who already had.
There was something off about the "flower maiden." Maybe she'd do it.
The lab-coated man shows no care for anyone else. Maybe he'll feel detached enough to do it.
The girl in the hoodie looks fragile enough to kill someone just to end the torture of being hunted.
And what about the guy who is completely willing to be called "fuck-face?" A boxer's punch can easily be misinterpreted as some blunt force weapon.
Hell, maybe even Teddy Ruxpin decides to join in on the fun.
No matter who decides to play, someone was going to. Nobody will leave here without facing the blood on another's, or even there own, hands. There was no use waiting for the inevitable by standing around like jackasses. He left through the north gate hoping to figure out what do they have to work with. With the exception of the gun, he had to make sure what weapons were available that could be used against him. He also wanted to check out the "dorms" the electroID posted.
"A message for those of you who wish to keep their sanity in-check." Taro spoke through the silence and fear that has surrounded him. Some may be listening, others might be, reasonably, too preoccupied with the circumstances surrounding them.
"I neglected to share you my talent before because I'd simply forgotten. I am the SHSL Survivor. Though this is the oddest amongst them, I have been in several situations like this. The best thing you can do when life does not even give you a single proverbial lemon, but instead kicks you while you are already on the verge of death is simply get distracted. Do not think about the situation. Let it pass through your thoughts that you are in danger around ever corner. Instead, act like nothing is wrong. Trust some of your fellow survivors. They shall be the only ones who can feel your pain."
He faces the one named Root. "Though you have my upmost respect to not give a single fuck about making enemies, you must agree that, given enough time, you will lose it if you go it alone. I've seen greater minds, lesser minds and minds equivalent to yours be forced to be sacrificed for the sake of the majority after one hardship too many. I'd suggest you find one person and, if anything were to happen, find another one fast."
Taro turned away from him. "If anyone feels like they are up for the task of trying there hardest and lead this group and prevent any murders that may occur, my condolences. Accept that you shall fail once or twice and your conscience won't take too much of a beating. As for those who wish to kill, you must have your reasoning. Just make sure that you can leave here without any regrets."
He straightened his tie and pocketed his hands. "Now that I've said my piece, I shall go take a look-around Monoworld. If you want to become the leader I mentioned earlier, then go for it. I rather not be involved with the newly formed politics that those of you will have to create. I only said my piece for the sole purpose of not being constantly repeating myself to those of you who want tips on how to survive from the expert, though I will admit I don't think "expert" is a good word for it."
Taro walked out through the newly opened north gate. "Good luck to all." Taro said as he raised his arm over his head in order to preform the minimal effort for a wave goodbye. He also muttered one more thing that he doesn't think anyone else caught. "You're going to need it."

Post by Willow Fey on Dec 13, 2015 17:45:19 GMT -5
While Willow was observing the others he was suddenly jolted by a terrible screeching sound. It was apparently coming from his ElectroId. A video began playing. It was his loved ones farewell video, probably something thrown together by Hope's Peak to keep his morale up after traveling so far away from home.
"...I am so proud of you, I always knew you were too clever to lead an ordinary life. Have fun at Hope's Peak and please stay safe." His mother
"Hey bro, your heading off to some big fancy school in Japan. Never would have figured that. Don't do anything too stupid alright? You becoming rich and famous is our only chance out of this dump." His sister.
"...God it's going to be even more boring around here without you. If you find a nice, cute girl that would be interested...you know who to recommend. Good luck Willow." His best friend.
Then his house destroyed, ransacked...was that blood? No....it couldn't. That was a familiar house on fire. And his old school...it looked like it had been torn apart too. This couldn't really be happening. This was some sort of horrible nightmare.
If only he could wake up.
The bear announced that the only way to find out what had happened to them was after graduation. The Trickster knew what he was doing, classic carrot and stick method of getting people to do what you want. An old trick, but very effective. One of the people around him would probably give in. As for whether he would...as much as he loved his family and friends he couldn't justify killing to try and find out what had happened to them. If they were alive and being held hostage, Willow would have a decent shot at getting them back by staying and trying to discover who was behind the bear and taking them down. If it was a bluff, then killing to find out that they were safe and sound at home would be playing into Monokuma's paws. If they were...gone, then nothing could be done for them.
Others here may not, would probably not, view it as logically as he did. He could understand that. The thought of his loved ones coming to harm was emotionally tearing him apart. Giving into that wouldn't help anyone.
He had to think, remain calm and rational. Emotions were helpful, but not now. Everything would be clouded by anger and fear. There is a director, a comedian, a flower maiden, a Survivor, someone who is likely a scientist, a boxer. Those job descriptions
didn't seem very encouraging but the skills of each could be used in unexpected ways. The presence of a Mononake was interesting. He had been studying the occult for some time and he relished the opportunity to meet such a unique spirit..
.
Willow had to figure out who he could trust and fast. He had to if he was ever going to get out of this theme park from hell alive.
Taro, the Ultimate Survivor, gave some rambling speech. He had some good points, but just telling people to trust in one another wasn't enough. People needed more.
"My name is Willow Fey. People call me the Ultimate Trickster. I will not tell you to trust one another, because to be honest I don't really trust any of you. However, we need to work together if any of us have any chance of getting out of here alive. I will be exploring the Park. If anyone wishes to join me, they are free to do so. I have no desire to kill, nor do I have any desire to die. You don't have to believe me, but that's the truth. I also am not asking anyone here to give up their murder plans, if anyone here has any. Just ask yourself this: Would your loved ones want you to sully your hands with blood for their sake? That is all. " Willow said in a polite, even tone. Then he began to walk away.
He just hoped he said the right thing. If he didn't he may be the first to die.

I decided to see what all of the commotion was about so I looked at the ElectroID as well. What I saw frightened me a bit. There were pictures of my parents being tied up and beat. Blood covered their covered faces. How did they manage to do this?
I was very confused as to what I was seeing until someone else came up on the pictures. My manager. She was in the same situation as my parents. That's when it hit me. The show must have a pretty high budget. How else would they have such good visual effects for the pictures? It all made sense now. They probably paid my parents a sum of money to do those scenes and my manager probably signed me up for this show. She probably couldn't tell me about it as part of a clause the show had. Oh well, might as well make the most of it.
I saw the faces of the other participants. Most of them look like they were in shock. I suppose it makes sense, if I wasn't told about it, they probably were not told ahead of time either. Some of them have introduced themselves as SHSL talented individuals. It would make sense they would have somebody managing their talents as well. Except for one...
That Taro kid introduced himself as the SHSL survivor. Way too fishy if you ask me. The show must have a high budget but the executives must not be very good at their jobs. How are they going to add a mole to the competition with a stupid talent like that? SHSL survivor in a game of mutual killings? How dumb do they think we are? He is going to be the first voted off for sure!
Looking back at everyone, I can see a group of characters as colorful as my clothes. This is good for the show. The more variety in the personalities the better for the ratings I suppose. I'm probably going to need allies in this game if I want to make it far.
I turn away from the fountain and decide to go exploring. "I'll see you guys soon" I said to the group and left while laughing my ass off.

[/i] Blushing again (jeez, one day her face was going to stay that color.) as the taller boy directed a smile at her for some odd reason that escaped her, Mariko turned her attention to trying to get herself to calm own and not pass out in front of a group of people she didn't know. How embarrassing would that be? No time to worry about that, because as soon as she had started to woner about what could possibly happen next, the electronic ID's all started to wail. As if things couldn't get any worse. She didn't know what the others were seeing, but for poor young Mariko, it was her two sisters. Her elder sisters, twins, always so bright, always so cheery, always so personable. Everything Mariko aspired to be believe it or not. Her aunt, who had given her her first video camera. All bound, all beaten. all...broken. It took everything she had not to throw down the ID, to scream and weep at the video. She couldn't let herself believe this was real. Couldn't let herself entertain the possibility that she was really trapped here until she did the unforgivable. Because she knew. If she let herself entertain the thought, she knew others would to. An while she knew she could never willingly take the life of someone else, people like her were deer among a pride of lions [/ul]

Alexia was speechless. What had just been presented in front of her gave a feeling of doom that overwhelmed her. Her parents were gone. The only people who she knew cared about her. Gone.
It felt as if time had stopped. She could hear her own heartbeat thumping in her chest. The overwhelment of her emotions was too much. No matter how hard she kept it in, she felt as though the world had collapsed. However, she knew that screaming would get her nowhere. She just had to accept the fact that they were...
She paused her train of thought. For all she could know, this video might be fabricated. The contents may have been tampered with or it was all a fake. She chuckled, knowing that this could definitely all be impossible.
She put the handbook back in her pocket and walked off. Completely forgetting about the events that had just occoured.

Ignia merely laughed in disbelief as she watched the video.
"This is fake as hell.", she said. "My parents are tougher than that. There's no way they'd get hurt like this. I know my parents."
She wasn't sure if anyone heard her, considering that she was starting to get away from everybody else. If the bear wants the students to go kill each other, fine. But he shouldn't expect Ignia to kill or to be killed. She has better things to do than die.
As she walked, there was no doubt in her. The motives the bear gave them were utter garbage, and if someone decided to kill because of them, then those people were idiots.

A sea of roses, once beautiful, now torn to shreds. Countless red corpses litter the ground as far as the eyes could see, their silent cries piercing the air.
Dead. They were all dead.
The Student ID slipped from her hands, clattering coldly to the ground. One of her most love-filled creation, the one brought to this world after a long period of painstaking work, dead. This was the one thing she did not want to see - the corpses of her friends and family? They don't hold a candle to the cruel sight she just saw.
She stood there for a few long seconds, biting back a rage-filled yell. Adrianna shut her eyes and clenched her fists, waiting desperately for her anger to subside. But her thoughts kept drifting to the poor, dead flowers, to the sacrifices she made to bring it into the world.
Adrianna was there when the first few Kravenski flowers sprouted in a little corner of her town. She watched earnestly as they begin to creep over the plants around it, choking the life out of them. Nobody else saw her peeking at those flowers, and she took great care to keep it that way. There was one moment she remembers as clear as day, the first time she thought 'This must be what its like for a parent to watch their child take its first steps. It's beautiful.'
It was hopeless, this attempt of hers to soothe the firestorm building inside. With heavy steps, she picked up her ID and headed away from the ground without uttering another word. One word rang in her mind - Survival. She'll live through this twisted wonderland, and when she finally escapes from this place, she'll start work on it again. A second version of the flower she held so dear to heart. A stronger, better and crueler version. @next

"This has to be somehow fake" He said, his voice sounding low. "It has to be. There's no way she's dead..."
At that moment he saw the video, Daisuke was determined to survive. He would not kill under those stupid motives. They were obviously fake. Or at least he thought so...

Post by Alexander Root on Dec 18, 2015 0:27:02 GMT -5
nobody ever made you dig deeper Root tried to even his breathing when he saw the face pop up on the screen. It was like a dream come true, seeing her. And even the white little poodle he had left at home was sitting on her lap. Root even cracked a smile as she wished him luck, even though he knew luck was a stupid thing, and it was all probability and could eventually be calculated, but for now, it was unknown and called luck. Nonetheless, it was a powerful reminder of what he was fighting for, why he was continuing after things happened. Why he needed to continue to live on and try to discover the answer the universe is asking. It was exactly what he needed to see righ–
Root’s face darkened as the video changed. His grip tightened on the handbook and he pressed his lips together. Logically, he knew it couldn’t be true. However, his heart was physically in pain right now. It felt like someone had reached into his chest and pulled his heart out. His entire body was tense, gripping the sides of the screen in front of him. All sorts of chemicals from his brain turned on, trying to counter the upset feeling he was feeling, trying to make him feel not so sad. These chemicals were trying to force tears out of his eyes, but his brain was more powerful, telling his eyes to remain not wet, to not show fear, or anger, or sadness.
Finally, Root regained control of himself and looked away from the screen, not wanting to see any more. The fact it was probably fake was a strong one, but the question remained, what if it was true? What if she was really…? What purpose would he have now? Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a curious sight. Flowers. Dead flowers. One the flower maiden’s screen. Not family. Not friends. Flowers. Wondering about this was the only thing that kept him from dwelling on the thought that these videos could really be real, that he had lost his reason to discover. His want and lust for knowledge was nothing if he had no one to share it with that he cared about, after all.
He took a couple of deep breaths and finally looked away from the flower maiden, not caring if she had noticed that he had seen what had been on her screen. All he had to do was forget the image that had been on his screen. As long as he didn’t focus on it… as long as he didn’t focus on the image of her and his dog. As long as he just let the image fall out of his mind he would be alright. It was so easy to forget, except this, this image that the bear had burned into the back of his eyes. He forced his face to return to a stone cold expression to try to fool the others there that he wasn’t as effected as everyone else.
The survivor had the gall to address him, tell him what to do. Ha! Like he would ever listen to the idiot. Root quickly scribbled down in his notebook. Survivor. Biggest idiot. Probably got his in the head too many times. Probably the first one to die. However, Root couldn’t help the gut reaction for his attention to go to the corner of his eye, despite his gaze not actually drifting that way, towards the director. Shit. No. Root laughed and threw his head back. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t hear you over your stupidity, Mr. Holier Than Thou. I think you’ll find in time, your confidence in ‘surviving’ is what is going to get you killed.” After all, it wasn’t really a talent. Though, Root thought about testing the limits of this ‘survivor’, testing to see what made his brain tick. Maybe it was just the stupidity. Maybe it was just sheer dumb luck, as the probability would suggest that there would be someone who would survive many accidents. Unless, the survivor caused the accidents that he gained his title from.
Trickster. Well, he seemed to have a bit more sense than the survivor. However, a title like that would be dangerous. Root wrote himself a note not to get tricked by the trickster with purple eyes.
Everyone seemed convinced that these were fake. But how could they be? How could they fake it so well, how could they know exactly how she would react? How did they know… he would actually care? His father wasn’t on there because they knew he wouldn’t care about him. Yet she was there and so in character it made it hard to believe that they were fake.
“If you want to believe that these are fake,” Root began quietly before raising his voice, “Then I ask you, how? And if you cannot come up with an explanation of how… well, then whatever remains has to be the truth. This is the real world, it’s not rainbows and unicorns. If these videos are fake, then we’ll have a pleasant surprise when we get out. If they are real, we rebuild. We live on, because that’s what those in the videos would want isn’t it? Ha. It will be interesting to see who breaks first.” Root finished up a note in his notebook and walked away, out of the square, trying hard and failing when it came to trying to forget the image of her and the innocent white poodle who needed to be shaved (she always forgot she needed to do that) beaten and bloody in the ruins of his collider he had built not long ago. No, no, they had to be fake. Despite his words, he couldn’t let himself believe that the video was real, or he would go insane, he was sure, if he wasn’t already.
