MINI-PROFILE |
Much of Caelie Ariane past lurks beneath the surface of murky waters. Nobody really knows much of what she’s been doing prior to the release of her novels, those instant hits that had so suddenly brought new life into New World Order’s scene of published fiction. The first of which went by the name of Blood on the 11th - A return to the Golden Age of Detective Fiction, it had quickly picked up traction among enthusiasts of that genre. For the first time in a long while, readers were challenged to a proper game of whodunnit, and it took a whole month before there was an answer on a message board laying out the mystery stark naked.
Caelie sent them a personal letter of congratulations, and their name was featured in a small snippet in her second book. This one was very eagerly devoured too, and a community of readers had formed online to band together to solve this as well as in anticipation for the future releases to come. Right now, they’re all waiting for Caelie’s third release: Back to the basics - A series of locked room mysteries.
As for what her readers know of her (or the lack of it), some of her followers had taken to the belief that Caelie’s past is undisclosed as a sort of ‘game’ for the most dedicated of her readers to figure out through snippets of information given here and there. Other more practical voices mention that the girl might simply be (quite understandably) unwilling to give out private information, but there hasn’t been an official statement from Caelie validating or disproving any of these theories.
Really, there’s only been one thing that’s pieced together so far, and that’s her permanent residence residing somewhere inside Sector VI, Little West Hollywood. Fitting for someone who’s already done so much, and even moreso for how vocal Caelie is with her divisive beliefs that a lot of existing authors are simply horrible at writing in her genre. It’s granted her a few enemies, that’s for sure, even if she’s sure to dish out praise to those who deserve it. To the eyes of the writers whose work competed with hers, this was simply a new cocky author getting too big for their britches.
If you ask Caelie though, she’ll say that she’s simply bringing out the best out of what New World Order’s authors have to offer. Competition breeds higher quality, after all, and she’s doing this all for her dear readers and proponents with similar beliefs as her - that true Holmesian works are the best for detective fiction, and that nothing less is acceptable.
