541 words notes: n/a A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI [attr=class,mbox2]Ren was having a ton of fun, but it was such a tiring day. He had run all over the place exploring every inch that he could find. He read some of the books in the halls, and then went to the bathroom and did his business. His lunch consisted of a couple of sandwiches before he finally decided to relax and chill out in the spa.
Thus, Ren found his room and got into his swimsuit before jumping straight into the deepest end of the pool, the cold water splashing around him, shocking his body, before relaxing in the water. Ren took slow breaths and floated on his back looking at the ceiling.
He was here… finally… after all his hard work he was going to be recognized and then he could help so many people because of it. That’s all he cared about: helping people. Well that and a few other things, but that was the big one.
Ren just floated along, staring, thinking, allowing his thoughts to drift to the things he kept shoved down around others. He couldn’t let others see him when he was thinking about the bad things, but if he didn’t think about them when he was alone, then he couldn’t control thinking about them around others. He closed his eyes, his breaths beginning to become more and more uneven as loud bangs rang through his ears and the sights behind his eyelids were those which no one would ever want to see… and yet… he missed it.
Back then, he had his friends, people who cared about him. He made a difference and saved lives. He was able to experiment on those who ended up dying. Experience healing with little supplies… all the death and destruction around him… he just wanted to help it all… but it was dumb to think that it would end forever. After all, history seemed to spell it all out: there could never be peace.
That meant people like him were needed forever… the healers… while they might extend conflicts by healing people and thus adding others to a war effort, at least those people got to live even a minute longer.
He continually tried to moralize everything he had done in the past. His thoughts were full of inconsistencies, and hypocritical thoughts. If he healed someone and they killed another, was it not his fault? No. They made the choice to hurt another… I didn’t.
Suddenly, Ren’s face was submerged in water and he quickly brought it back above the surface, the water breaking his concentration on the things he wanted most to hide from everyone else. If they knew, they wouldn’t trust him, and if they didn’t trust him he couldn’t heal them. He remembered those eyes burning with betrayal staring at him and he didn’t want to see that ever again.
Why did he have to pick sides? He just wanted everyone to be happy…
Ren dragged himself out of the water and sat in one of the seats around the pool, dripping wet, the cold air causing goosebumps. Sighing, Ren smiled and put his hands behind his head, closing his eyes once more…
This time…
This time he wanted to think of something happy. [newclass=".mbox2 b, strong]color:#2ed1aa;[/newclass] [newclass=".mbox2 i, em]color:#2ed1aa;[/newclass]

Orica had spent most of the time today making sure her room was set up properly. This place didn't seem to have a gym so any physical training would have to be done there, where she had done already after setting it up. She had wasted enough time with the events of the morning and exercising was a great way to not interact with the weaklings that the people running this “competition” thought stood a chance against her.
Once sufficiently worked out, which took a fair amount of time, she changed into the swimsuit she had brought with her and headed to the spa. After entering she noticed that someone else was there but paid them no mind. A few things were noticeable when Orica was wearing just a read bikini as opposed to her full body armor, depending on where you looked first. Perhaps the most notable were the large breasts her armor was in no way designed to enhance. It was almost as if she wanted to wear something practical. Past that were her muscles. Her arms and legs were beefier than one would expect of a woman, and she had clearly defined abs. Lastly were the various scars over her body, from her training no doubt.
Not caring who was in the room or how much they might look at her, she moved over to the hot tub and tested the water's temperature before turning it up a lot higher than most people could stand before casually sitting down in it.

315 words notes: notes A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI [attr=class,mbox2]Ren opened his eyes hearing someone else enter the spa while he sat, and he quickly sat up, forcing a smile on his face. So much for relaxing and not feeling the need to put a smile on. However, when he spotted the one who came in, Orica, Ren’s smile grew. That was the girl he was in an alliance with! She might not admit it but she was the Horsewoman of Scary Shit. Because she was scary. He almost labeled her the Horsewoman of Lances and Strength, but scary shit was better because Ren didn’t think she was actually all that ‘strong’. He knew stronger people, maybe not strong physically, but stronger because they were willing to open themselves up to love and possibly betrayal. She probably thought it was a weakness to love and care for someone, but it was the strength to let herself love someone that she lacked. Caring for people wasn’t an easy thing. Because one could always be betrayed and have to face the pain of betrayal.
That was okay. He would teach her that. Eventually. “Horsewoman of Scary Shit! You’re here!” Ren walked up to the hot tub and looked at the high temperature and just climbed in, despite the pain of the scalding water. His body turned red pretty fast, but it was worth it because then he would get to stay here with Orica and convince her that she was part of the Four Horsepeople. After all, Kaizo wasn’t here but he was the Horseman of Popularity, because on the outside he could make the people love them and support them on the outside. Usually games like these had votes from the outside after all, and it would be best if Orica, Dorothy and he got the best votes for the good things and those who wanted them gone would get voted for the bad stuff.

Orica was relaxing, something a lot of people probably didn't know she could do, in the hot tub. At least this building had something like this to help her tense muscles after a workout. Sadly her quiet relaxing time was interrupted as the other person in the room decided to bother her. Well, at least he was brave enough to try the hot water on his own, but that wasn't good enough for her to change her level of respect for Ren.
His first words were part of the same uncomprehending mess he was trying to spout before they entered the building. ”I told you I'm not a part of that alliance thing you are trying to form. Stop referring to me by such an absurd title as that.” She glared at him, granted that was just her resting bitch face. It was hard to tell how angry she really was.

270 words notes: notes A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI [attr=class,mbox2]Ren internally laughed at her response. Of course she didn’t think she was in the alliance. After all alliances were supposed to be secret and that meant that they couldn’t be super loud about it. It was smart on her part to be secretive of it, as after all, they didn’t want people to target them because they were working together and were four strong, even if one of them wasn’t even in the game. Nodding and winking at Orica as if telling her ‘oh I get it, you’re just lying so you can get used to lying just in case someone walks in and hears stuff going on’. After all, if someone learned of their roles in the alliance, they could use it against them and force the scary shit horsewoman to have to deal with happiness and hugs instead of him. That would be bad and screw up the whole strategy.
“I get it, don’t worry. We are totally not a part of an alliance.” So subtle, Ren. He was the master of subtlety. Ren laughed aloud before he placed his arms around the rim of the hot tub. “You know you’re all serious and stuff, why don’t you loosen up a bit? You know, it’s actually very weak of you to push others away like you do. After all, no one is perfect and everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Like you’re a good physical threat in competitions, but your social game is so weak. You should loosen up. I bet you would look super cute with a smile on your face.” Oh Ren, where is your tact?

Ok, here was the difference between resting bitch face and Orica being actually angry. Even wearing as little as she was she was still buff and passively intimidating. Ren obviously had some sort of preconceived notion about what was going on in his head and she needed to beat it out of him, with force if need be.
”First, do not try to hide your words behind such weak subtlety. You are horrid at it and your reliance on it to assure yourself of something you think is true when it is clearly not is weakness.” Pointing at him she continued. ”I am not in an alliance with you. I am not lying in saying I am not.
I.
AM.
NOT.
IN.
AN.
ALLIANCE.
WITH.
YOU.
OR.
ANYONE.
You say that me pushing others away is weakness but you do not see why I do it. NO ONE here has proven they are strong enough to stand alongside me. I will NOT help others cover their own weaknesses by trying to use me and if that is a weakness itself as you claim, then I am willing to die for it.”

617 words notes: notes A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI [attr=class,mbox2]Whoops. Ren just laughed at her response. He wasn’t afraid at all. He’d been hurt a lot worse than she could ever hurt him and he knew how to fix himself anyways. Such a temper was always weakness after all. He wanted to make her realize how she was completely and totally fucking her game by being so serious all the time. She was playing game, not ruling a country and even if she were to rule a country she had to show everyone that she strong not only in physique but also in mind and dealing with others.
“You really can drop the act, Orica-chan.” Ren’s eyes narrowed at her, hoping that this way he could get her on his side, because some people disliked people who were always cheerful and stuff like that. Then she might listen to him and stop fucking up her game. Ren shook his head and poked her in the chest. “Whether or not you want to be in alliance means nothing. You won’t ever be a leader of your own country if you continue to act like this. Leading a people is not just strength it’s also subtlety. It’s diplomacy. No one will want to let you go out and be your own country if you act like this. Trust me, I’ve been in Little Berlin. There are several groups who have tried to leave the Future Foundation. If you say they were just weak, you’re wrong. I knew them personally and they were so much stronger than you were, but they failed. I know what it would take to leave the Foundation, even if I don’t see the reason why you would want to leave them. They are amazing leaders and so much stronger and kinder than you are.”
Ren wasn’t trying to be mean, and in fact he just wanted Orica to like him and so he was showing her what a ‘strong’ person would act like to him. While he knew he wasn’t perfect, he did think he was a strong sort of person and while he was physically not as strong as some, he believed himself to be mentally strong enough to do what he wanted to do – heal everyone and be their friends and see them smile.
“Perhaps if you opened your eyes to the strength of those around you, you would realize that your definition of strength is narrow-minded. You’ll never be a leader if you push everyone away that you think is weak. A good leader helps those who are weak. That’s what a government is for, because otherwise why the hell would we need a government to help us from those who kill and maim and rape and just plain hurt those who are weaker? A ton of just people like you would just kill each other. A country can’t be built on only the best scientists or only the strongest, because then who will do the cooking and the cleaning and the plumbing and all the other jobs? Before the Tragedy there was a book published called Brave New World and the author mentioned the attempt to build a work on only those who were the peak of humanity, and it didn’t work. They would destroy themselves. Perhaps if you looked outside of yourself and actually looked at what a leader needs to be, it’s not your narrow view of strength. Heck, I could be a better leader than you. Leading means understanding those around you and inspiring loyalty or they will get together and kill you just like any other dictator because it is physically impossible for you to be stronger physically than a giant mob trying to kill you.” [newclass=".mbox2 b, strong]color:#2ed1aa;[/newclass] [newclass=".mbox2 i, em]color:#2ed1aa;[/newclass]

Orica looked at him as he got serious. At least he was going seriously at her now. That who overly friendly schtick wasn't going to get him anywhere with her, not that what he was saying would help. ”You have interacted with many groups, but you seem ignorant of Schwertfeld. You cite your old world thought, books and organizations, but that does not make you an expert and me and my people.”
She took a deep breath, handling him seriously since he finally gave her that courtesy ”A Leader's right to rule is based off a social contract between them and their people. In Schwertfeld that is a contract of Strength. I will lead them as long as they see me as one worthy of leading them and they are worthy of being led. Strength comes from yourself and yourself alone. We do not rely on one another not as a way to distance ourselves from others but because a Strong country becomes one built on trust. You see your alliance and your attempts to bring me into it as a way to teach me a lesson, but one that I don't need to learn. That I need others. No. What I need are people who I needn't worry about. People I respect, not ones that need to be carried.”

306 words notes: notes A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI [attr=class,mbox2]“If it was so great and amazing, then why does it not exist anymore? Obviously they weren’t strong enough to defeat the despairs. The Foundation was.” That was literally all he had to say in response, on that matter. Ren was looking her in the eye, not allowing him to waver in his view. He was in the hot tub, scalding off his skin probably, staring down a very frighteningly strong woman trying to gain her trust, make her respect him, because all people had to be treated differently. He wanted to be able to help Orica if she was hurt and if she continued to think like this she would refuse and possibly die or get injured to where she couldn’t achieve her dream.
Ren just wanted to help. He stood up and stepped out of the hot tub, his chest completely red as if he spent days out in the sun, the cool air stinging his bare skin, but he held his gaze steadily on Orica. “A true leader listens to those around them, not just blindly believe that their way is the only way. True strength is admitting that you are weak, Orica-chan. If you keep going on like this, your body and mind will break beyond repair and you will be weaker than ever unable to reclaim the beautiful strength you currently have. I’ve seen better people fall. It is merely arrogance that guides you to believe that you are better than everyone else – perhaps if you opened your eyes you’d see we are all strong, and you are the one who is weak for not recognizing it.”
Ren finished, walking off out of the spa area before Orica could even respond, ending up in his room and getting dressed, laying on his bed, looking at the roof and just thinking. [newclass=".mbox2 b, strong]color:#2ed1aa;[/newclass] [newclass=".mbox2 i, em]color:#2ed1aa;[/newclass]

Orica watched as Ren continued to try to tell her that her whole life and point of view were wrong because he said so. He brought up that the Foundation was strong enough to defeat Despair, a feat that she didn't fully believe had truly been accomplished. Before she could give much of a reply he got out of the hot water, probably too heated one way and the other, and then left. She might have gone after him but being too hasty might lead to error. Besides, if she was right, then the proof that The Foundation and Hope weren't as Strong as he claimed they were would be obvious.
She sat there for a while longer, stretching and relaxing in the obnoxiously hot tub before finally getting out and drying herself off, stretching her relaxed muscled to let them work out their kinks a bit better, before returning to her room. The possibility she was wrong in her way of thinking was far from her mind.
