[attr=class, mbox] Valentina glanced to her left. Then her right. Then her left. Then her right. Then behind her. Then above her. The once again below her. She eyed a particular spot in the corner of her eye. She had noticed it was out of frame from any characters. She clutched her house keys in her hand tightly and quickly glanced around once more. Nobody seemed to be nearby. Nobody at all. Perfect. She quickly crouched down on her stomach and start slowly approaching the corner. Once there, she began furiously scratching into the floorboards. It was hard to put the V in her name into the floor. She blew away excess wood shavings in order to better grasp on her carving. I mean, it was just a V. It took her twenty minutes just to carve just that. How was she going to carve the other letters in? Defeated, she turned to her glass of water she left on the banister. It had slightly melted and only ice chips remained on the top of the glass. She began reaching for it when she noticed someone coming towards her. Focusing on them more than the glass, she accidentally knocked it over and the contents spilled onto the floor. "Gosh darns. I was really looking forward to that water too." She directed it towards Caelie, even though her eyes still were locked onto the contents below. "By the way, do you want to talk? I always liked talking to new people one on one rather than a group setting. I'm Valentina Rossi, the Aspiring Ultimate Aromatherapist. I like to hug people. Like this!" She took steps towards Caelie in an attempt to hug her.

[attr="class","box2"] What even…
Caelie had already walked through the backyard, and though the fences were discovered to be… disturbing, birthing worms that crawled under her skin, she wasn’t someone who enjoyed running away from issues. To that end, she was planning on lounging by the porch, staring that damned barrier down. It was supposed to be… well, not peaceful, but something similar. Instead, what she got was the sight of a contestant’s back as they… scratched something? It was Valentina’s, and more specifically, a gaze promptly met as the Aromatherapist turned around. Caelie would have afforded this wrench-in-her-plan a polite smile, but the sight of questionable clumsiness stopped that from ever happening. The glass that fell. Was it an act? Was it done on purpose? Surely it couldn’t be?
This train of thought didn’t last, however. Valentina immediately started to approach Caelie, and the distance between them wasn’t even all too big to begin with. Distracted by both the possible implications of the glass, whether or not she was over-analyzing things again, and what an appropriate response to the sudden barrage of conversational topics were, Caelie.exe was briefly stuck in a loop. Taking a small step back, she was suddenly tackled into a hug by this open, touchy, unpredictable awful mess of a girl. It didn’t help that Valentina was taller too. Caelie didn’t like people who were taller than her. And now, standing here with the other girl’s arms wrapped around her, she awkwardly afforded Valentina a small hug back, trying her best not to show signs of outward squirming.
“It’s nice meeting you too,” said Caelie in as nice a tone as she could currently muster, closing her eyes in an attempt to cool off what came along with a now cleared mind – irritation. A rising one at that.
First impressions are important. First impressions are important. Don't let yourself get too angry. Don't show it.
“Could you… please let me go?”

[attr=class, mbox] Valentina continued to hug the girl a minute after she was told to let go. Then the girl let go of Caelie. "Sorry!" she responded in quite a fast pace, "I was too into the hug to notice that somebody is not a hugger! My bad. It's not every day I get to hug someone new and special, so I just jumped the squeaky gun to get the oil. I didn't mean to offend you or anything, Kayley." She crouched down and tried to get ice cubes into the glass, only to realize that the cup had shattered upon the ground. Looking defeated, she turned to the camera, still crouched mind you, and stated "Uh, I kinda broke your cup. I'm sorry. Do I have to pay for it, or is it no big deal?" While waiting for some sort of response, she took respite in a nearby chair, taking off her heels. "Why don't you sit? I would love to talk to you about something. Anything really. I just want to know more about my brand new friend!" She smiled gleefully as her leg quivered into a shake, further suggesting a high-spirited girl that Valentina is. "Also, I'm kind of stuck here until production tells me what needs to happen with their glass and all. I'm not even sure if they want me touching the broken shards. What, being a health hazard and everything. So..." Valentina began noticeably thinking about a variety of topic starters to select from. She eventually went with "Do you like kitties?"

Normally, when someone on the receiving end of a hug made it clear that they didn’t like what was happening, the other party would instantly release them. Normally, social rules dictate it to be so. Normally, someone is smart enough to do that.
Apparently, Valentina was anything but normal. It took a whole minute for her to release Caelie. It was the worst sixty seconds of her time here yet, but it wasn’t like she could afford to tell the other girl off. First impressions and all that, but… god damn.
“It’s fine,” she said, crossing her arms and turning away. Facing the backyard, her gaze trailed down to the fake grass close by her feet, right across the porch’s top-to-bottom mesh screen. There wasn’t any wind blowing through – a fact that had made Caelie wish there was – as she listened to Valentina apologize to whoever was behind the camera. Making use of this brief respite, she closed eyes and took calming breaths. Expectedly, this didn’t last. Valentina begun to address her again, and Caelie afforded the girl only a sideway glance at first. A smile then appeared, and her arms fell to their sides as she turned to face Valentina, leaning back against the mesh.
“I’d rather not sit on the floor,” said Caelie, kind and without much hints of distaste previously obvious. “They’ll probably send someone to clean the glass up. I wouldn’t care about it if I were you,” she said, unbuckling the dark-purple purse hanging by her waist. With smooth, practiced actions, Caelie opened the flap of a cigarette box inside without looking. Normally, what followed afterward was the retrieval of a stick, but... Looking at the camera, she shot Valentina a quick question of "How are you with cigarettes?"
Smoking’s a habit that’s always been a little off for her. Periodically, her opinions varied between thinking it disgusting and developing a mild crave, and recently it’s been the latter. She’s not addicted to it per say, finding it easy to handle in moderation, but evaluating the stress calming factor of it versus the damage it did to her body? Again, the result of which side wins flipflops. It's the same deal with her and binging on drinks too.
Well, it looked like Valentina asked her about kittens. What was this, primary school?
“I quite like animals, actually. Kittens in particular, but the loyalty of a dog is pretty nice too, though I only have an aquarium of fish right now. What about you, Rossi? Do you keep any pets?”

[attr=class, mbox] Valentina sighed noticeably upon Caelie's suggestion that the glass would simply be cleaned up. Caelie then offered a cigarette, which she simply responded by scanning her thumb on the padlock of her purse, entering a nine-letter code, pinching the top part of her purse and opening it enough so that her hand can fit through and taking out an extremely fancy lighter. The mold of it was Egyptian heiroglyphical. When opened, the fire, rather than bulbed-out like on a candle, rather spun into a lovely swirl. She also managed to take out a perfume entitled Doctor OddHeart: Or How I Ceased Cowarding and Lust Over the Nuclear Warhead and This is Totally Not a Rip-Off of an Old World Movie No Sirree, This Perfume Name is Completely Original and started squirted it all around. The scent was pleasant and, if inhaled enough, made you have a nagging thought that you forgot to turn off the stove. "I light, you provide. That's how it worked in Little Paris." She took one of the cigarettes and lit it in her mouth and puffed it out away from Caelie. "I'm more of a cigar girl myself, but I was afraid they would get confiscated. The meanies." She continued to leave her lighter on until Caelie was satisfied with lighting her cigarette. She then closed the lid on her lighter and put it and her perfume bottle back in her bag. Valentina noticeably grimaced when she began talking about the loyalty of dogs. "Er, yes. I have kitties, but dogs are not loyal. I've...I've learned that the hard way." She took another puff off of her cigarette before letting some ashes pile on the floor. "Sorry, I'm a bit distracted at the moment. I think I forgot to turn the stove off? But I'm almost positive I did. Whatever. So, how are your fishies?" She returned to her regular happy-go-lucky self after the brief spite of dogs for a millisecond. In fact, she seemed more interested in the fishies that Caelie had then of her own kitties.

[attr="class","box2"] The sigh on Valentina's part was slightly upsetting, but Caelie decided to let it slip by. Caelie also tried not to let her interest show as she glanced slightly towards Valentina's purse. Or to be exact, the two things that came out of it. Talk about money... Just that lighter probably costed more than what she slaved away to make in a month. A bitter sort of jealousy sprouted from within, disdain towards a display of such wealth. While it might have been possible that Valentina didn't actually have that much cash, and that this lighter was a one-off splurge, the narrative that Caelie felt inclined to believe in went in a completely different direction.
The brand of the cigarettes that the two of them were sharing wasn't your average on-the-shelf product, but that wasn't to say it was the best of the best either. As distasteful as it was, its target audience really were those who were forced to settle for the lower-end among better brands. Those with enough money to think themselves too good for cheaper cigarettes, but stuck without enough excess for the really greater stuff. It was a fact that displeased Caelie, but that was all the more reason why she needed to win this competition.
"I'm from Little Hollywood myself, and that's how it worked there too," said Caelie, finding the whiff of perfume now in the air quite delightful. Though without verbal praise, she gave Valentina a knowing smile, trusting the other girl to get the message. However, that expression didn't last. It looked like her comment about dogs had apparently dug up some memories better left buried. "I'm sorry. It was just a generalization," she said, placing a stick in her mouth and leaning in for the lighter. Once lit, Caelie took a deep puff. Closing her eyes, she held the smoke in for a little bit before calmly blowing it out, away from Valentina.
A few seconds were spent as she wondered if the short quip about a fridge was meant to be a joke, but seeing as how Valentina gave it a prompt 'whatever,' Caelie chose to do the same too. "They're silly things that swim around," she muttered, smiling. "I pick ones with beautiful tails and colors, so between them and the decorated aquarium, they're really just there to look good." She took another puff, this one shorter than the previous. "What about your cats? Or kittens, I suppose."

[attr=class, mbox] "Kittens? I have plenty of them. I rescue them from the alleyways and trashcans. I have about ten of them currently living with me." She puffed away and looked solemn again. "Better than any dog that treated me." She quietly spoke under another puff of smoke from her cigarette.
A moment of silence past as each of the girls puffed their cigarettes until it was just ashes. She decided to gently brush the ashes into the grass below with her feet before saying one final thing to Caelie. "I hope we can become the bestest of friends here. I shall help you reach the top. Mark my words. I will save you from elimination." | The time is nigh
