Whoa, I've never seen someone do something like that with fire before. It was like he was a dragon for a little bit. Of course, most dragons don't have their fire-breath blow up in their face.
"Are you sure you don't want me to worry about it? That looks like it hurts. How did you even manage to do that anyways? I thought you were the Ultimate Baker, not the Ultimate Fire-Breather."
That really isn't something you can just suddenly do, he must have been practicing doing that for a long time. How many times has he burned his face like that, then? That can't be good for his health.
"When did you figure how to breath fire like that? That couldn't have been easy to learn. It's seriously impressive, though. Just make sure to do it outside next time. I'd rather not have us get into t-trouble with Monokuma for setting part of the manor on fire."
Would Monokuma punish us if part of the manor caught fire? I hope not. Actually, I hope no more of us have to live through any sort of torture like that ever again. I still can't stop thinking about it, even after I've had all this time to move on.
"I h-hate to bring this back up again, but do you think we'll have to suffer through another trial again? Do you think another one of us could really do something like murder again?"
It, among other things, has been killing me on the inside not knowing who to trust. I've got this forlorn hope that maybe talking to others about it might help, but I should be honest with myself. It's not going to go away. It's going to be stuck with me forever.

Nero had the greatest smile on his face as he heard the amazement in his voice. It was purely what he did it for, to have that same shock factor that he had when he saw his first firework.
"Don't worry, good knight, I'm a baker. My job is in the oven, so I've learned to tolerate heat, though I'm no stranger to burns" said Nero with a laugh, taking off his gloves to show off some burn marks all over his hands, mostly faded.
"I don't just do fire breathing, but all sorts of pyrotechnics. Unfortunately, I can't say that I'm on the skill level of the Ultimate Pyrotechnic, or even a normal one. I'm... not really that good at it and I frequently get hurt, but it's very fun for me to do, so I practice anyways." said Nero with a smile, remembering how his sister would always laugh as she saw his soot covered face. Even a failure was a success sometimes...
"And if it burns down the mansion, I'll take the blame for it as a lone accomplice. Besides, maybe we'll get lucky and Monokuma will die." said Nero with a laugh at the end.
"A Trial... is something I'm afraid we will have to endure in the future once again. As much as I hate to admit it, Monokuma's the one with all the cards in his hands, and nobody to stop him. Besides, after Ren's... circumstances, I'm afraid he has more than enough ways to make us kill. But, I'll have to trust you Liam to keep me safe." said Nero with a smile. He felt it in his gut. This knight was someone he could trust. Nero the Happy Baker

"Yeah, I wouldn't mind something bad happening to that bear. Maybe the fire could cook him up for us and we could all have him for dinner once we make it out."
It's nice being able to joke about things like these. I'm not usually the type of person to do so, but being around people like him makes it a lot easier.
"You think something like before will happen again, huh? Yeah, I'm thinking that too. Until we find out something to give us the upper-hand, we're all liable to be the next v-victim."
It really could be any of us. At least one of us won't make it to the next trial, and then another one of us won't make it out. And then it'll all happen again. Who knows when I'll be next. It's bound to be me, or Kris, or even Nero eventually. It's all just a matter of time. It'd be stupid to think otherwise.
"You r-really trust me that much? Well, I think I can trust you too. I'll be sure to try and not let you down."
I'm going to have to try my best here. He's putting his life into my hands. If anything happens to him, then it's my fault. That'll be my motivation to do my best.
"So, I've been wondering, what happened with you and Koneko? What did you do to make her angry enough to hit you like that?"
She immediately knocked him onto the ground after that trial. I know she wasn't in a good spot right then, but that seemed a little extreme.

Nero's face turned from a happy one to a conflicted one as he thought about the aftermath of the trial.
"Well... I suppose I was concerned about her safety..." said Nero as he remembered the punch to the face, and the subsequent knock out. He was just glad she didn't break a bone or worse, all things considered. After a moment of thought, he continued.
"I was suspicious of the candle, since Monokuma gave it to Koneko. And considering that we didn't really figure out Ren's circumstances, I thought that it might have been possible that it was an object that could influence people. Therefore I decided to inspect the candle, for her sake." noted Nero as he remembered his logic for the events of the aftermath.
"Unfortunately, Koneko was filled with sorrow, and I could understand why. I think everyone was, but she was hit hardest because of her... connection with Ren. She really wasn't in the mood to give up that candle, even if it was only for a few minutes. So, I decided to try to quickly take it from her, and try to get back to my room before she could catch me. Use the element of surprise, to make up for my disability and her abilities." commented Nero as he thought about the encounter.
"Well, it wasn't a very good plan, and I wasn't in the right state of mind. I guess what happened next was justified then, and I feel bad. I had barely touched the candle, when she yanked it out of my grasp, and she punched me square in the face with the other hand. I barely remember anything about that evening after that, but I really feel bad. Though, I'd do it again, if it meant that she would live for another day." said Nero. After he had hit the ground, he hadn't even remembered how he had gotten to his room, which concerned him. But even now, he still felt the pain from that metallic punch, hopefully it'd pass. His teeth were fine, and aside from a headache, so was he.
"I suppose you would have done the same?" Nero the KO'd Baker

"You did it out of concern? You really thought something b-bad was going to happen?"
I know it's Monokuma, but to think that he would try something right after a trial is crazy. He'd want us to suffer, not immediately kill someone for no reason.
"I mean, yeah, I guess I would have done the same, but not without some solid proof that the candle was bad. I wouldn't just walk up to her and immediately try to take it. I can respect you trying to protect someone else, but that wasn't really the time for it."
I definitely would have waited for her to have calmed down instead of just making a move for it right after the trial. He had good intentions, but it wasn't the right way to help. Not the right way to help.
"Even if the candle was given to her by Monokuma, I don't think it was right to assume it was dangerous. The candles were here since before we arrived, so it's kind of hard to believe they were trapped. N-Not to sound rude, but most of that plan seemed like a bad idea."
What part of that plan did he think was going to work? He's not able to run and Koneko was going to notice the candle she had received going missing no matter what. The odds were against him in so many ways.
"How are you feeling? You didn't get any s-serious injuries, right? No concussions or anything like that?"
A hit like that had to have done something. Koneko really packed some force into that punch. That sort of impact could have done a lot more than knock him out.

"As much as I hate to say, I did. I believe that Monokuma isn't the type to make empty moves in anything he does. It wouldn't be an immediate kill, but he'd do whatever he could to ensure our despair with every action he takes. The only way to beat that plan is to disrupt it in it's source. Besides, everything else in this mansion has surprised us so far, it's not out of the picture to think he's gotten to everything he could touch." pessimistically noted Nero as he talked to the knight. As he spoke, he felt his head ringing for a moment, grabbing onto the ledge for support for a second, before standing back up.
"She definitely hit me hard, that's to say. That plan certainly didn't work... It's been a bit harder to walk recently and I've been getting bad head aches. Hopefully that will fix itself after a few more nights of sleep..." said Nero with a smile, but really, it was a poor option to attack the robot. He definitely wasn't in the right state of mind... but still...
"To protect everyone, my health is... expendable." said Nero, not realizing that he was speaking his thoughts out loud. Nero the Conflicted Baker

"You seem really worried about this. Do you really think Monokuma has total control? Every opponent has a weak-point. It's a basic of b-battle. We just have to figure it out and exploit it. I'm sure we'll find it and everything will be just fine."
Could Monokuma have really gotten to everything? No, there's no way. There's gotta be some part of this place that Monokuma couldn't have gotten to. Some part of here we could use as a safe zone. Something that will let us come out of this alive and victorious. Everything will be alright. I just have to keep telling myself that.
"Nero, your life is w-worth more than that! You can't just give it up. You have people out there that need you to survive. Remember how you were telling me about your sister? I know she can't live without you, so you have to go on for her. You have to get out of this h-horrible place for her. Besides, I'm your bodyguard, remember? I can't just let you go and h-hurt yourself."
I know I'm a hypocrite, but I'm not going to let him die without cause. He has people that care for him on the outside. People that need him around. To die without realizing that would be one of the worst fates I could imagine. I won't let him suffer like that. I refuse to. No one else here needs to suffer needlessly, or at all.
"Can you make me a promise you won't do anything like that again? I know your heart was in the right place, but you can't go and do things like that just because you want to p-protect everyone."

Nero very surprised for a moment as Liam talked about it as if it was a battle... and thinking about it, it was. This was a battle of the minds more than a battle of the bodies.
"Liam, you're a genius! We need to outsmart Monokuma, and wait for him to slip up once!" said Nero with a smile. However, the next phrase from Liam wouldn't leave him as happy.
"O-Oh, I didn't realize I was speaking out loud. But, you're right. I have to live, for my sister and my mother, for Yuichiro, for Kris, for you, for everyone... for Ai..." said Nero with a smile as he remembered his reason for life, his raison d'etre. He couldn't give up, especially for the nice Ai that rested in his pocket. His life ending would likely extinguish her's as well. Besides, the FF had to have been working on breaking them out by now, regardless of what Koneko said.
"Thank you for the help Liam...! I'll try... but I can't promise you. I'm too impulsive for my own good, I guess you'll have to keep an close eye on me then." thanked Nero with a smile. Hopefully he wouldn't worry the knight too much, he had enough on his plate already. Nero the Soon to be Heart Broken Baker

"Genius? I w-wouldn't go that far. It's just a basic of regular combat, but you'd be surprised how long it takes for some people to learn. They look at a fearsome enemy and automatically decide it's unbeatable."
Of course, unyielding courage can be your downfall as well, but I've already learned that lesson.
I just wish I learned it sooner. Both of us would have been a lot better off if I had.
"Yeah, you have to live. You have a lot of people who want you to get out, so that means you have to. I'm sure even Ai wants you to survive. You've been holding onto her for awhile, I'm sure she's had a chance to get attached to you."
He was the first one to grab her, so I'm sure they've both gotten to know each other. I'm sure they'll never do anything to hurt the other.
"Yeah, I guess I will have to keep an eye out for you. It's fine with me. I'll finally be able to help someone else here, and that's all that really matters to me."
Just have to make sure I don't lose sight of him. Last time that happened...
No, it won't happen again. I don't think I can handle letting it happen again. It might actually kill me if it does.
"I know I just said I'd keep an eye out for you, but I think I should take off now. It was definitely a pleasure to meet you, Nero. We should meet up again sometime soon."
Nero's an alright guy. I'd like to talk to him some more sometime, but for now I should leave. See if anything around here has changed since the trial.
And with that, Liam walked out of the porch.
