all things are sacred.
With all the contestants corralled into the Plaza after some aggressive prompting by Monokuma...the voting began. But not before some rousing speeches by the four nominees.
Caelie Ariane:
"While this is an extremely... unfortunate situation to be in," said Caelie, unable to hide a look of restrained annoyance, "I feel sorry for all parties involved. It's another one of the bear's sick games, but we do what we must. And so, I... beg of you to think about how the four of us had each treated all of you from the very beginning. Some of us saw all of you as friends from day one, while others..."
Pausing for a brief second, she directed a quick glance in Mayumi's general direction.
"While others chose to yell and curse and scream obscenities - with a finger as well, I might add - at us at during our lowest, when all of our hearts were going out for Ren."
"Not only that, some of us will be more useful than others if there are any more trials to come. It wouldn't do anyone any good if their heads were at a risk of being blown off."
"Please, you stand to gain a lot if you vote with the majority's best interest in mind, so don't make a mistake."
Mayumi Otsuka:
“This is an… interesting turn of events to say the least, though I knew something like this would happen to me later down the line. So, why should you choose me in place of two others? Tch, I’d doubt I’d be saved regardless of what I say. All of us deserve death in one way or another, while all of us also deserve to live and escape this place in many aspects. Caelie is an intelligent person who was one of the main factors in the trial succeeding. Nero’s skills are fundamental for a place such as this, even if we’re supplied food daily. Sanura brings people together with her magic tricks, which has been further amplified by this sandy environment. And what do I have? I never said a single word during the trial, I’m constantly cranky and dampen the mood, and my strengths are practically worthless here aside from my intellect. But here’s the thing: I’m trying to change. I didn’t give a shit about getting into Neo Hope’s Peak or join a competition. I auditioned because I wanted a chance redeem myself. I could make friends for the first time, create blissful memories that’ll stick with me for the rest of my life, and achieve my pipe dream of finding faith in humanity. But as of today, I’ve barely changed, and I don’t know what my future will hold if you choose to spare me, or a murder occurs before my collar is detonated. I’m willing to help you all through this catastrophe, I’m just… not the easiest person to be around. I guarantee I’ll be a team player, because I’ll know that people believe if they want me to live. I want to live and escape this place just like the rest of you… but I’d doubt many of you would want someone such as myself to live through this. And that’s my argument, take it with a grain of salt if you’d like, or whatever.”
Nero Fiammes:
"My fellow students, I ask of you to give me the collar. Truly, it would be for the better if someone who volunteered got the collar, for forcing a collar on someone can only end badly. Futhermore, we know that there is no risk with me having the collar as I have already proven myself, and I truly believe that my fellow nominees do not deserve the weight of this collar around their neck, for they work far too hard for it, and they deserve this break more than I. Besides, it would truly be a crime on my conscious if I let these fair maidens take the collars and let my neck remain naked. So I ask of you once again, when you decide who gets a collar, allow me to carry the burden once again, so at least one collar will be guarenteed to be safe... at least, safe until the final moments. For after all, a cornered person can make rash decisions, and I would wager that a collar being forced on them would be for the worst."
Sanura Simons:
(Unable to speak, Sanura can barely manage a sobbing hiccup, covering her face in front of the others and trying to quiet herself down.)
One by one, they were forced to enter the small hut, and write two names on the paper slips, before placing them in the ballot box. Once all had voted…
...Monokuma began to speak.
“With all the votes casted, it’s time, folks! The two with the most votes will be elected as the Island Deities! If someone isn’t sacrificed to them, they may just explode with rage...or perhaps you’ll try to kill god? The possibilities are endless! So...without further ado, the results.”
And so, he began to read off...who voted for who. Oh dear.
Koneko voted for Mayumi and Nero.
Irene voted for Sanura and Nero.
Liam voted for Sanura and Mayumi.
Nana voted for Mayumi and Nero.
Nox voted for Mayumi and Nero.
Shiro voted for Mayumi and Sanura.
Yuichiro voted for Mayumi and Sanura.
Dorothy votes Sanura and Caelie.
Valentina votes Sanura and Nero.
Apollo votes Nero and Caelie.
Orica votes Sanura and Mayumi.
Gorou votes Sanura and Mayumi.
Brunhild votes Sanura and Caelie.
Rin votes Mayumi and Nero.
Kris votes Sanura and Nero.
Monokuma laughed quietly, shaking his head. “Wow wow, seems like you guys didn’t pull any punches! How cruel! Coming in last place, with a whopping four votes...is Caelie Ariane!”
The collar popped off her neck with an unceremonious click. She seemed quite pleased with herself.
“Next, with eight votes...is Nero Fiammes!” His collar followed suit...but he looked less satisfied. Sanura’s sobbing intensified.
“That means that Ms. Simons and Ms. Otsuka are our Deities this time around! Enjoy your collars, girls! Make sure you get the killing rolling again! Laissez les bomb temp roulez, y’know? Upupupupu!” And with a twirl, Monokuma grabbed a nearby black and white surfboard...and dove five stories to the water below, disappearing from sight.
