THE WORLD'S ON HEROIN
AND THE WORLD KEEPS TURNING AT A TURTLE'S PACE
AND THE WORLD KEEPS TURNING AT A TURTLE'S PACE
[attr="class","les"] The cynical teen's messy hair blew in the wind as the weather quality slowly deteriorated. For one reason or another the chaotic environment seemed almost tranquil to Mayumi. It was a perfect storm of mayhem, almost too perfect, which ended up cancelling itself out… if that made any sense. Then again, Mayumi has been in drastically worse situations than this, so the bomb collar and weather motive didn't seem to bother her very much. As she slowly walked the boardwalk to the Tribal Council Plaza, she looked over the boardwalk rim to take notice of the sea life in the surprisingly clear water. Most of the passive marine species have been replaced by barracudas, piranhas, jellyfish, leeches, and even some sharks. As long as she didn't head to the beach or dangerously close to the railing, she would most likely be fine. The wind began to irritate her ears so she put on her trusty headphones to block the air flow. She finally made it: the exact place where her peers voted for her deathbed. She recalled where everyone sat, their mannerisms, and the looks on their faces. Liam was sweating, Gorou was looking off to the distance, Koneko didn't blink with her only eye and saw through the entire event, etc. She plopped herself onto the lower bench and lied down, gazing up at the wooden ceiling. She rested her hands behind her head, and took a deep breath. Exhale. She remembered the feeling of absolute apathy she felt when she was announced one of the two "island deities.' She knew that it was mostly in blame of her post-trial outburst, but it was much deeper than that. If anyone were to ask her why she always seemed gloomy and irritated, she would simply respond: "this world is filled with corrupt individuals, and has their heinous tendencies even if they don't realize it yet. I'm guilty of that as well, so don't fucking assume I feel superior to you or anything," when in actuality all these feelings were directed towards… no, nobody could know about the source of her hatred, not even Irene. Monokuma and the other holohosts may already know the truth, as well as some of the Ultimates who frequently watch the news, but she hoped no one would uncover her past. However, the more she thought about it, the more she realized how that past experience made her a much stronger person, with the expense of incredibly low self esteem and skewed views. She didn't just get through the challenge by her intellect or strategizing, but her sheer determination. Even if her placing did put her life in jeopardy, the fact that she won a physical and mental challenge all by herself, outdoing everyone else without her weight being a hindrance, made her feel warm inside for a moment. Even if she'll be dead soon… or maybe not if a different murder occurs, she'll be remembered after death. Regardless of what everyone's views on her are, the fact that they'll acknowledge her existence is more than enough to count as them caring for her. "Imagine that," she said to herself. "Going back to the way things used to be…" She looked up at the security camera, knowing that Monokuma was watching her, and everything she was doing was being broadcasted to live television. She got up from her bench and stared directly into the camera. "You bastard, is this a jest to you? We're fighting for our lives and liberty while you're just sitting on your lazy ass, laughing at our suffering. Well mark my words. This show WILL end, all of us will bring it down to its knees. Whether there will be 15, 8, or even 2 of us left, you'll regret that you've fucked with our lives and the ones we care about. I might die soon, so I'm going to live my life to its fullest, and this collar won't stop me from enjoying myself. Even though more than 3/4 of my peers are against me, I'll just root for myself and my fat ass if no one else will. I've already gotten something out of this so-called game of yours, and even if you take it away I won't fall into despair; that will only further my determination to cave your fucking face in. You're fated to fail, even if more of us die, because you've disturbed natural order. Like Macbeth, you and your tyranny will crumble before us. Sayonara, fucker, until we meet again… face to face." Mayumi's message wasn't just directed to the holohosts, the mastermind, or… him, but also the Future Foundation who have done nothing but cause pain to them, the Hope and Despair traitors hiding in the shadows manipulating their every move, and everyone who's currently watching the broadcast who aren't doing anything to help them escape. She stomped out of the plaza, saying to herself: "It's good to be alive for the moment, might as well spend my last moments well." | [attr="class","goodness"] ✉ @nobody ✉ @nobody ✎ 0000 words |
