Sitting at the campfire was Liam, not taking recent events well.
Are you happy now, Liam? You let yourself lose control again. You could have said nothing, and stalked off before anyone noticed, but that was too easy, huh? Instead, I got loud and angry, and let everyone know just what was wrong with me. Instead of keeping my mouth shut, I told everyone about how I was going to down a bottle of pills. I even let Ben loose. Ben was my biggest secret, and I just shouted his name out at Valentina.
The worst part is, I didn't just admit those secrets to my fellow contestants, I admitted them to everyone. The people back home who thought they knew the knight that fought back despair and won, they were all lied to.
Was it right to tell them how I really am? No, of course it wasn't. I was supposed to be a symbol of hope. Symbols of hope don't lie about important things, they don't let the people they know die, and they definitely aren't terminally depressed.
Some knight I am.
I've done nothing to help like a real knight would. I just sit around and feel bad for myself, and then let it get worse when something else bad happens because I didn't do anything to stop it from happening.
Maybe it's about time I pass on the title to somebody else. I think we've all decided that I don't deserve the title anymore. I remember being a kid, hearing the tales about knights, always fighting for good, and always defeating evil. It sounded so simple. Just find a bad guy, and defeat him. If only it were so easy.

The events that had occurred continued to puzzle Irene, who still remained in the dark as to the mystery of camping. The heat and water of the beach, while unpleasant to her, were pleasant to some, she had learned. It was not a matter of comprehension, as it was simply the state of things. To learn this was to complete her knowledge of it. Something similar could most likely be said of camping, except the circumstances were quite different from mild inconvenience and personal tastes. In camping, one was minimizing the distance between oneself and the outside that was provided by normal accommodations, inviting the potential of various threats located in the environment. Was there enjoyment to be found in the danger of the situation? It was a pastime of some to put themselves within harm's way only to narrowly escape it. It was not something she would understand, but to have knowledge of it was enough.
Irene approached Liam silently, staring blankly ahead. She crouched, lowering herself level to him but not sitting down, and decidedly looking out of place there. In truth, despite exchanging few words with him, he was a figure of interest. The knight was a figure from times long past, an individual who put themself in harm's way for the good of others, and in some cases as a sort of pastime. A figure from times of violence and bloodshed, which seemed long past, and yet, were brought to mind in a way. A figure of power and courage, spoken of in tales of fantasy, but seated in the present day. As with all things, there was much to learn of the presumed anachronism, and she would see what she could learn.
"Hello, Mr. Dayton. I hope I am not a disturbance." She said, breaking the silence.

She's just sitting there. Just sitting there and staring. Irene always seemed kind of strange, but I always just chalked that down to me not knowing her well enough. Now that I'm seeing her up close, something definitely seems off about her.
"D-Don't worry about it. You being a disturbance is probably for the best. N-Not that your b-being disturbing or anything!"
Smooth. Insult the lady after she just sat down to talk to you. Making yourself look real nice, Liam. No wonder you have such a great streak of making friends with the others here. It's a miracle none of them have gone and killed me yet.
"S-Sorry, it's just that I've been trying to deal with everything so far, and it h-hasn't been easy. Just ignore me for now."
So many things happened in this last week. From being transported here, to Kris dying, to revealing a serial killer and possible traitor... it's just so much to process. Way too much to handle alone. It'd take strength I know I don't have to deal with this all.
"How do you do it, Irene? You seem so calm about our s-situation, despite how hopeless it all seems. Nothing here seems to have gotten to you like it's gotten to the r-rest of us."
Where the rest of us are all starting to unravel, she managed to keep her cool. Someone doesn't just manage to stay calm through times like these without some sort of great effort put into it.

Irene remained unemotional as she responded to him. "I see. There is no need to apologize. I am not offended. I am sorry if I have ignored your wish to be ignored." While Liam looked the part of a legendary knight, if not a younger one, his behavior was much different from that with which they were usually portrayed. It was unusual from her knowledge of them, but he remained the best. If he weren't, he wouldn't hold the title. Legends were incorrect in many cases. Perhaps this was one of them?
She continued staring straight in front of her, remaining in the position which by now would have become uncomfortable for most. "Mr. Dayton. I am sure you know that we are each the best in our given fields. There are reasons for this. I am no exception. I have not gained my position simply by making toys for children." A pause. "I uphold certain rules in my work. Precision. Promptness. Professionalism. Persistence. I believe it is the third which you speak of. In order to remain the best at my work, I must not allow interference with my work. I trust you understand now. This situation is but an interference."
After a short silence, she adjusted her lens attachments again then continued. "You are a knight. I believe you also hold to a code of rules, if I am correct. In our position, one must maintain rules. Rules maintain order." Finally, she turned to face him, staring blankly. "Do you require further information?"
