Taro had a good look at everything around him. He got the lay of the land and was confident he know where everything was. Now it was time for bigger matters. "Monokuma!" He shouted. "Come out. We need to talk. I have some questions needing to be answered." He sat down on the fountain and patiently awaited Monokuma's reveal. Monokuma ✰

| HERE'S A LULLABY TO CLOSE TO YOUR EYES Your tears mean nothing to me The bear suddenly squeezed out of the top of the fountain, his soft foam body contorting horrifically as he grunted as twisted.
“Hnnng...upu...gnhngngnngngng!” With a primal noise of fury the bear escaped the tube with a pop, flipping madly through the air and landing on the ground with a sickening flop.
The SHSL Bear was dead.
“Aaaaaaaaah, juuuust kidding!” Monokuma suddenly hopped to his feet, laughing madly. “You have more questions?! They better be worth my while, or I'll blow you sky high! Bears need to hibernate, you know...”

Taro didn't even smirk at the bear's ridiculousness. I guess he'll have to get used to Monokuma insulting him. What's it been? 3 or 4 times already.
"Monitoring all of this place might require your constant attention, so I'll be brief."
Taro crouched down at Monokuma level so they can meet eye to eye.
"I have several questions that I was hoping you could answer. For starters: Why a theme park? You could have picked any prison camp or building, but you decided to pick a theme park. Another question I have is what do you gain from all this? In fact, why do you have all these students play this game? Why not the faculty at Hope's Peak or anyone outside of it for that matter? Thirdly, why do we have to not be caught? Why isn't killing someone and be done with it? And, most importantly, why supply a motive? We are both well familiar with the sole fact that given enough time, anybody can snap in a disaster like this and will kill someone. Why bother showing us footage of our loved ones (and some flowers for some fucking reason) destroyed when, given time, someone will snap just to escape or determine that you really mean you can give us power?"
Taro wasn't expecting straight answers, but whatever the bear does reveal will tell him at least something about what's going on. He'll just have to infer it.

| HERE'S A LULLABY TO CLOSE TO YOUR EYES Your tears mean nothing to me “Oh, don't worry Mr. Yamada. Big Brother is always watching, whether I'm here, there, or anywhere.” His red eye glinted dangerously, as he released a low chuckle. “It wouldn't be very diplomatic of me to ignore my dear students on their neverending field trip.”
And then, back to normal. “Soooo, how can I help you~? Oh, right! Answers. Answers, answers are so important in this day and age...it's your generation, you know. You want to know the 'why' to everything, you never just accept anything at face value. That's a dangerous trait, Taro~! Constant suspicion just makes it that much more likely someone will cut your throat, or stop your heart, bash your skull in...Just examples, of course!” Monokuma wiped a fake-looking sweat drop from his forehead, sighing contently. “Frankly, I hope it doesn't happen. I think I'm beginning to feel...is it hope? Hope...for your cooperation here. You all might be different.”
“I chose a themepark because, well, I wanted you to have fun. What's more fun than an amusement park?! It has amusement in the name! As for why I picked you seventeen...” The bear had slowly been wandering away from the Survivor, but now he turned on his heel and stomped the ground roughly, posing. “You're all very special to my cause. Very, very special. And really, I'm doing yo—er, nevermind. I've talked too much!”
“Your third question intrigues me. Are you thinking of soiling your hands with blood? Perhaps you'll kill Ms. Takana? I can see it now: Her chest, covered in stab wounds as you hold her in your shaking arms...That would truly be a shame. I do it because if you could just off someone and leave, it would happen way too fast. Look, you deserve SOME repercussions for your actions! The motive and the risk go hand in hand. Risk, reward, the scales of justice. If you're taking these huge risks, you deserve a reward for fooling sixteen other intelligent young people. And not everyone...is as weak-willed and afraid as you. In fact, many of your friends have iron wills. Will you be the one to break them, Mr. Yamada...? I wonder.”

"I'm not planning on killing anyone. You of all people should know that."
Taro quickly went over Monokuma's answers. The whole big brother thing struck something with him. It must mean that somehow the mastermind behind all of this not only can control the bear but also do surveillance at the same time. It's logical to assume, based on that, that the bear and the surveillance can be done without the mastermind's involvement.
Monokuma also warns me about poking around even though his own rules state that they can look around where their hearts desire. That must mean that Monokuma only wants us to know what he wants us to figure out. Nothing more, nothing less.
"I do have some more questions that you brought up. Firstly, why are you doing me a favor? You set this up for your own gain. I'm only someone who got dragged into this. You are the mastermind here." He wasn't about to let that slip-up go unnoticed.
"Secondly, why do you assume I'm such a weak-willed and afraid person?" Either Monokuma is bad at psychological profiles of people or he's just trying to piss Taro off. Either way, Taro is not scared. It's more, acceptance, of his current situation than anything else. Taro was also not angered by Monokuma's assessment. Taro was the one who approached him first. He also didn't care what someone was thinking about him.
"Thirdly, why do you want to prolong this game? I'd admit that anyone committing murder shouldn't be able to escape scott-free, but if why use trials to prolong it?"
"Fourthly, speaking of seventeen students, what happens if, for some reason, only one student remains with no kills to his or her name? Does the unfortunate party get locked here for all eternity or will you simply add more competitors to the list?" If Taro was somehow going to survive all this like he usually does, he would like to know what exactly does Taro get stuck with. These rules are important to his fate.
"Finally, for now at least, there is the issue of the west, south and east gates along with the remaining locked doors in the north gate. I want to know exactly how we get those doors opened? And why are they locked in the first place?"

| HERE'S A LULLABY TO CLOSE TO YOUR EYES Your tears mean nothing to me Monokuma stood silently, and he thought. He thought some more. He stood for what seemed like an eternity, before speaking once more.
"E-Eh, you ask too many questions!" he yawned, and in the blink of an eye, he had vanished.

"Really?"
Taro sighed and headed out towards the cafe. He was starting to get a little peckish.
