Irene seemed indifferent about the apartments, and still indifferent about entering into another person's apartment. The apartments were better than those on the island, at least. Their intrusion was for the purpose of the investigation, and could be excused.

Man, if you were gonna have people over the least you could have done was clean up a little, maybe offer some refreshments. It's only polite, after all. You scan Dorothy's room trying to see what could be important enough to investigate, finally settling on... Over there is Dorothy's bed. Nothing damning as far as you can see, but if you feel adventurous syou can always try andfeel around underneath Hey, what's that door? Curiosity gets the better of you and you wander over and open the door....oh, it's just the bathroom. A little disappointed it's not a skeleton in` a closet, but still, maybe you should look around?

With that, Dorothy checked under her bed, as stuff nearly always gets hidden there. Even if it wasn't her own room, she'd do that.
