Taro wasn't there because of her, but he was curious about the deceased. So why not lie a little about his main motivation? Certainly no harm was done. All he was there for was to think anyways, so it's not too big of a lie.

Taro didn't think he recognized her. Then again, he has seen a lot of different faces. It wasn't too farfetched to assume that they met once before.

"Recognise who? Him?" Alexia bit her lip. Doing her best to act tough. "Eh... I suppose he looks like someone 'back home'"
Alexia did not want to make any enemies. So keeping her mouth and mind shut seemed to be the best option for her. So, she quickly changed the conversation.
"Talents!" She said abruptly. "So, your talents. What do they consist of? I mean, the ultimate lawer and survivor must have some stories, right?"

Taro brushed off Alexia's comment without much thought to it. It wasn't like he told her a total lie. More like a little white lie.

Alexia looked at Taro...
Of course, Alexia knew Taro was a bad egg. Someone who had just either lied straight to her face, or was hiding more from her.
This ability to tell if a person is lying or not had came from dedicated police training, years of work and catching criminals... But this was different.
No matter how curious Alexia was, she did not want to reveal it to him... He seemed... Dangerous. Besides, when Alexia is stressed she also cannot focus properly, so telling everyone she sees would not be a wise thing to do.
"Hmmm, Interesting." Alexia acted, trying not to seem too wooden. She should at least give Taro another chance to explain himself... Right after she heard of Joquin's parable.
