nobody ever made you dig deeper
Root quickly led Mariko out of the Supply room. Of course, while Root himself had absentmindedly walked in and noticed dead bodies and didn’t react outwardly like that. He was torn between being fascinated at the mystery presented, and disliking the whole ‘two people are dead’ thing. His excitement also stemmed from the fact that now he could find out what happened when someone killed and they discovered what happened to them. But first, they had to find out what happened so they could catch them, and solve this mystery.
For now, Root had led Mariko to the café. It wasn’t like he was a creeper and knew that she liked going to the café. No, that wasn’t the case, he just thought of bringing her somewhere where he could investigate and she could be away from those bodies. The Café seemed like the perfect place. After all, with the state of Shiro. There might be a utensil that could have caused it. Plus, the café was a public place where many people went, so maybe there was something that someone hid there, in order to hide it in plain sight, no way to trace it back to them. After that, he was debating on the other places to go. Though… hopefully no one went to his room and messed with his work. He’d know. He’d know if anything was moved. And he’d be pissed. He was already not happy that his calculator was gone before he could even use him.
“I’m going to find out what scratched that calculator,” Root said with a grin on his face, “We could grab you something to eat, if you’d like.” Then again, after seeing such a sight, maybe she wouldn’t have an appetite. “I’m going to search the kitchen, if you’d like to join me.” Root wasn’t sure whether leaving her out at the tables was what she would want while he searched the kitchen, or if she wanted to follow him. After all, he was supposed to be sharing his confidence. “We’ll figure this thing out, I’m sure. It’s just another one of my theories. Eventually, I always figure it out.” Root scanned through his notebook for a second before making his way toward the kitchen, whether or not Mariko was going to follow him in there.
